Was at both shows that rainy day in Philly. Two solid performances. The afternoon show he had a bit more energy, but both great shows with Elvis in great voice and looking good!

First saw this in Sean Shaver's The Life of Elvis Presley (1979).

John Herman, of course, is one of the long-time Elvis super-fans, responsible for recording the legendary 12-31-1976 tape, not to mention filming at that show the amazing, Super 8 close-ups that have circulated for years since (the films were stolen from him, apparently).

He's also heard giving Elvis a U.K. Sun LP on FTD's Dinner at Eight, taped at the Hilton in December 1975. Elvis apparently knew him on a personal basis, from his travels to the Philadelphia area and Herman working security for the gigs.

I posted this on the other two topics where you asked, hope this helps:

In April 1974 the Hilton opened a new building in South Philly that apparently is the one Elvis used in June:

Philadelphia Hilton Inn
900 Packer Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19148

A rude report in June 1976 indicates the tour stayed there again.

Rich Man-Poor Man
Larry Fields

Apparently Elvis Presley's feeling the financial pinch. Tubby and his entourage rented two floors at the Hilton Inn in South Philly Monday while he, uh, sang at the Spectrum. During his Spectrum concert two years ago, the Pelvis and his gang took over three floors in the same hotel ...

It's now called the Holiday Inn Philadelphia Stadium.

How rude indeed. I'll bet, even in 1976, EP still looked better than the jackass that wrote that tripe.

I am really grateful for such amazing info, I always asked where the great pics of Elvis in the peacock suit were (arriving after the aft. show in the parking lot with the wet floor) very important to me. You´re a genius DrJohn...

Thank you for the kind words. Heck, I'm just another crazy fan, that's all.
