Is This Young Kid Elvis @ Three Years Old???
Give me HONEST & SERIOUS answers, please!
To me, this does not favor Elvis ONLY because the famous "lip curl" is incorrect. Elvis always curled the left side of his lip and not the right side, correct? The reason I'm asking is that I just got told that this isn't Elvis.....
Here's the picture....

Ok....thanks, Rob....I guess what threw me off was the smile and the side that the famous "lip curl" is coming from. That lip curl seemed to always come from the left side and not the right side - so that's what got me confused.
Thanks, buddy.

Here it is reversed so that the smile is on the left.. looks a little odd now, but yes, Elvis' smile did curl up on the left, not the right.. who knows..Tony Trout wrote:Rob wrote:It certainly is Elvis.

Uh, the hair part might help some. The buttons on a small child, especially prior to the post-WWII period, aren't always helpful. Girls often still wear shirts and sweaters the "boy way" in the school uniforms, and for small children, sometimes the buttons were made always "the girl way," because they are easier for small fingers. I don't think they shopped fancy children's boutiques, though.
Hard to say about the mouth. Lemme check. Yes, in the first photo, it goes the other way. Curious. I think he's somewhat older here. Definitely. He was small for his age.

The reversed picture looks so wrong after all the years of seeing it the other way round. While the 'sneer' may be confusing we can see that in many early pictures that Elvis hair is combed from left to right. Thus the familiar version is the right one.

And he did in fact sometimes do the smile the other way...... there's a LMT close-up which shows this, for example.

The Picture is from 1939 or 1940. But the Background is faked.Tony Trout wrote: ... Give me HONEST & SERIOUS answers, please! ...

The view is incorrect, look at the buttons on his shirt. It's a photo of Elvis, I wouldn't worry too much about the smile.KevinK wrote:Here it is reversed ...

It's Elvis and a pretty common childhood shot that's been around for awhile.

Indeed, the future King of Rock 'n Roll is pictured there. The image looks reversed, but who knows. I can't imagine he would "sometimes do the smile the other way." Why would anyone do that?
Re: Is This Young Kid Elvis @ Three Years Old???
Hi Tony Trout, I have scanned the picture and will email to anyone who cares to post it here. The shirt buttons and scar on his chin say it's the right way round despite the smile going the other way!

Only a little rich boy would have the opposite buttons (I have seen them in expensive children's clothing catalogs - it helps children button their own shirts, but in this case, that's silly.)
Why? I would think the photographer was perhaps urging him not to "twist" his mouth, so this is what happened. He was trying, in other words, too hard.
There are some interesting possibilities for the mouth situation in the first place. Another time . . .

Yeah, I get that it's correct. I only said it looks reversed. And of course that's based on that legendary smile going the other way. Strange thing he did as a tot!rjm wrote:The hair and buttons say it's correct.KHoots wrote:Indeed, the future King of Rock 'n Roll is pictured there. The image looks reversed, but who knows. Elvis also smiles to his right in the well-known picture of him aged about 12 with his arm around his father's neck + big cold sore. Originally seen printed in reverse, to complicate matters.....

As noted, the original photo is genuine and true.
His mouth would curl to the other side, depending on the situation, whether he was three or forty-one:

Re: Is This Young Kid Elvis @ Three Years Old???
He usually sneered on the right side as in the bottom photo but curled his smile on the left side, but I think the child photo is of a half smile.
