Elvis Colorized Test

Fri May 03, 2013 11:11 pm

I have experimented with different software the past few months for quick easy colorization w/o colorizing each frame. Here's a test so far that I've Posted. Leave feedback if you want. REMEBER this is just a test and the quality/frame-rate is better on the original file than what you're seeing. Enjoy! :)

Reminds me of the opening of "Elvis '56" a little...

it is not easy, this is a good start, especially an animated sequence !

If possible you should try to match the colors to what Elvis and the band were actually wearing. Otherwise, good work so far.

Yeah. I first saw Elvis '56 when I was about 7...and it blew my mind to see Elvis in color (at that time) my main inspiration.

I agree. His hair, guitar, hands, and flooring need also some color. And to even do just the one song is very tedious/time consuming (unfortunately). Any suggestions. I have every show on VHS, the Heartbreak Hotel source I used for this was off one of those documentaries (better quality). What do you think would be an appropriate approach to this situation?

Thanks

Looks Good :) Would'nt it be a cool idea to have a project consisting of members from the forum and have like a project colorizing tv appearances/movies...hmmm (may sound almost unethical to some, altering the original pictures) but after me having long conversations/questions over the phone with EPE, NBC, and CBS, it not very likely that the public would be given and color kinescopes/videotape. I don't know...just and idea

Not abad idea but your source material would have to be very good.....and it would be great having members who are into this working on different aspects of a video clip.
That would take a lot of the time and pain out of it.

Well, I have all the dorsey (elvis) portions.....on vhs. Decent quality though. Ed Sullivan Show we could just get from the dvd set. Elvis '56 has pretty good quality clips (Hound Dog Milton Berle, Steve Allen, and the 2 Dorsey Clips: Shake Rattle and Roll, which was edited short, tutti frutti, and baby lets play house) There's multiple bootlegs out there that have fair quality. My main interest is the Dorsey Shows and the Milton Berle Shows.
Actually, I do have the full episode of April 1956 Milton Berle Show, not great quality though. I would use "Elvis: Great Performances" if only they did'nt have that gold record roll across the screen for the track info.
So yeah, it would be kind of a mess, but with all of the members on the forums that probably have enough good quality material and can donate it via torrent or email, It could be done.

I personally have always wanted colorized elvis footage, it just has not been done. EPE most likely wont do it. Do you have any ideas on where we could get good quality video?
