Contrary to what Penny banner said in that interview she met Elvis again on November 4, 1960 as can be seen below.

Or is it November 5th? I know I´m just nitpicking here...

I´m all in for nitpicking when it comes to dating photos and I´ll change the dates on those Rainbow Rollers photos to November 5.
Elvis often went there very late in the evening or even after midnight so November 5 it should be.

Thanks so much.

Brian, can you post, please, a bigger version? I don't have the photo with Peggy Banner, in fact i think it's the only one with Peggy and Elvis together.

I´m sorry my friend, this is all I have too.
I was hoping for someone to have a bigger version myself.

I got it from an auction on Ebay I think it was.

Thanks for the post, bripet56.

Incidentally, about four months ago I started a thread about this same topic. Here's the link, in case you missed it first time around :

Nice to get an exact date for this visit to the MGM set! Thank you!

Lynda and George Hamilton would break up later that year, and Johnson would go on to meet and marry a U.S. Marine Corps Captain named Charles Robb in December 1967. He later became governor of Virginia.

P.S. Please note the MGM Studio is actually located in Culver City, not Hollywood.

Latest addition to my website is from March 19, 1957 when Elvis got a Stetson and tried on his gold lamé suit.

Thanks a lot, bripet56. That was an interesting read.

I didn't know the lovely story about Carolyn George, and the photo of Elvis with the Stetson is new to me. It's intriguing to learn that another TV appearance was being considered at this stage. Any hints about what it could have been ?

The photo with the gold lame suit in front of the Audubon fireplace is a classic. I used to have it as an A3 size poster from some magazine - it's stored away somewhere. So, this would be the very first image of him with this outfit ?

Thanks again.

Great page, the article about Stetson hat is new to me. Thank you very much for that!

About the gold suit photo, you're sure this was taken on the same day, March 19? This photo doesn't look like it was taken in the same session like the ones with Nudie Cohen, right?
For Elvis-Nudie photos i have this date: March 11-15, 1957 (they were discussed on FECC in 2009) - he had no ring on his left hand, and in the Audubon Drive photo he had the ring he wore on his March tour.

Another nice page update, thanks!

The photo of Elvis trying on the hat I've seen before, but cannot place which book or magazine. Maybe someone else knows?

Questions:
- Would not the Stetson hat gift visit and management delivery of the Nudie Cohn suit fall on different days, given their reports in the Memphis Press-Scimitar?
The hat story was published on 3-20, noting the visit as 3-19 (Tue). The suit story was printed on 3-21, which implies delivery from Parker on 3-20 (Wed).

- The article about the suit makes no mention of Nudie along for the delivery, so where do those photos of him with Elvis wearing it come from?
Perhaps Elvis tried it on at Nudie's store in Los Angeles earlier in the month?

Re: My new website

Thanks Mr. Moon. I´m sorry but I don´t have any info on which TV show was being considered.

Hilton, I´m almost certain the photo of Elvis in the gold suit was taken the same day as the one with the Stetson.
Elvis came home from Hollywood in the evening of March 18 and on the 19th Robert Johnson went out to Audubon Drive to present Elvis with the Stetson. As you can see in the photo Elvis already wore the silver shirt to go with the suit and the photo of Elvis in front of the fire-place was in the Press Scimitar on the 21st.
And I agree with your observations about the Audubon Drive photo opposite the Nudie photos. They are not from the same date. The Nudie photos would be from out in Hollywood prior to Elvi coming home to Memphis.

Sincerely
Brian

Why would journalist Johnson not mention the spectacular gold suit in his article on 3-19 (Tue)?
And why is it not possible that the photo published on 3-21 (Thu) was taken on Wednesday?

Just curious as to if you have more information on this.

Doc, I made the assumption that the photos were from the same date since Elvis wears the silver shirt that went with the suit.
I think he brought the suit back from Hollywood himself.

Although the text says that Col. Parker presented Elvis with the suit I believe this took place out in Hollywood and not in Memphis.
The main story in the paper was about Elvis vs Harry Belafonte and record sales and Parker talked to the reporter from his Madison home so he wasn´t in Memphis to present Elvis with the suit.

There is of course a chance that the photo could be from the 20th, well, it could even be from the 21st, as the Press Scimitar was an evening paper but why would Elvis wear the silver shirt on the 19th without trying on the entire suit. I believe the reason why nothing was mentioned in the March 20th paper was because the story was to be about little Carolyn spending all of her allowance to buy Elvis a Stetson.

Sincerely
Brian

bripet56, you are on a roll!

Lovely update, and Brian Cain's somewhat catty review of the show reminds one of just how dynamic Elvis was during his only tour of 1971. This was the moment where management needed to get the show to Europe, and beyond. Presley was primed and ready to go, and the so were the fans.

But it was not to be.
