Madison Sq Garden LP roadside billboard 1972
with the interest in the PFAP set I thought I would ad this scan of a Polaroid picture I took in 1972. A local record store chain had this up on a well traveled section of Route 309 in Pennsylvania near my home.

Re: Madison Sq Garden LP roadside billboard 1972
Nice post, Greybeard!
It's interesting that tapes were getting such a push... And nice to see
the all-too rare billboard promotion for Elvis !
I do recall that when I was living in Boston some ten years ago, the smash "ELV1S" hits compilation had a
huge billboard up in one of the more hip neighborhoods.
And it was up for a long time.
I read an audiophile proudly say how he got rid of his copy and I think that's sort of common,, but as a fan, I do like hanging on to what was
probably the last major, mainstream Elvis title with massive "penetration" into the market, even with
U.S. radio effectively boycotting the new hit remix.
If you have any more goodies, please post'em.
Do you remember buying that LP when it came out? Or 8-track, as it were?
I got it as a birthday gift six years later ( in '78) and was over-joyed with it. I have a photo of me somewhere holding it up
with a big smile.

Re: Madison Sq Garden LP roadside billboard 1972
I really do remember getting the LP and cassette (at the same time)- passed on the 8 track as I wasn't into that format. I did get it later.
I was really excited about the release because I was at the June 11th show and it was as close to re-living the event as one could come in those days.

It appears to be an advert for the eight-track release!Greybeard wrote:with the interest in the PFAP set I thought I would ad this scan of a Polaroid picture I took in 1972. A local record store chain had this up on a well traveled section of Route 309 in Pennsylvania near my home.

Take it from someone who has a head-scratching fascination for the format, it is definitely an advert for the 8-track release.drjohncarpenter wrote: It appears to be an advert for the eight-track release!
