It really must gain a special feeling standing on stage looking out........WOW.(Even though I know Elvis often said he couldn`t see further than like the first row......really no wonder with all that heavy light )
I sometimes wondered why he needed to wear those glasses all the time during the 70`, but I guess the lights was hurting his eyes.

It's beautiful, and captures what it's like to be that big a star, facing all those people. Very dramatic, and a little scary, too. So many people, and just one guy they are all staring at.

Reminds me of a song - not Elvis's, about staring out at such a crowd, and what it must feel like. "All I see are Dark Eyes." (He won't admit it's about that, but it is.)

Judy Collins' version (the videographer politicized it, and gave it a "universal" meaning - I'd like to show performers on stage, and the masses of Dark Eyes, and the sadness and loneliness of it):
