New Haven July 17 1975 - no photos around?
This may be common knowledge, but it was an unpleasant surprise to me...
For the last three years I've lived under the impression that the 10 photo Leech set (one of which is below) was indeed from July 17th in New Haven. On my copies the photos are dated on the back as Springfield July 15, which is clearly wrong.
I now believe that this set is actually from Asheville July 24. Here are the pieces of evidence I've been able to uncover:
1.
Look at the railings in the background: on the left you can see white railings and a blue curtain below them, whereas on the right (and this one is from New Haven July 16) the railings are black, they're lower relative to the stage and there doesn't seem to be any curtain below them. The left hand photo belongs to the Leech set I thought was from July 17, but now the background looks awfully similar to that in July 24th photos:
2.
Another photo in that Leech set is of Elvis introducing Vernon:
This photo turned up at eBay recently: in it Vernon wears the exact same clothes.
Additionally the background singer attire and the stools they're using place the above shot into Asheville.
Conclusion:
The Leech set dated for New Haven July 17 is actually from Asheville July 24. But now I do not know of ANY photos that would have been taken in New Haven on July 17. Do you? Or am I totally wrong here?

Go where...?
I have only seen Cathi's photos from July 14, 15 & 16 - never any from 17. Could not see any from her gallery, either?

It's possible. But Elvis wore the same jumpsuit on:
July 15, Springfield.
July 17, New Haven.
July 19, Uniondale, and July 24, Asheville.

Man, I don´t know what to think.
I don´t have that set of Leech photos but from you you have posted it does indeed look like Asheville.
But what then is this? Elvis walking onstage wearing three large rings on his right hand and in the photo you posted with his father he only wears one ring on his right hand. The stools lokks to be the same as does the clothing although there is a blue shine in my photo. Here´s what I have with the two suits that are causing most problems on this tour. More to follow.
Sincerely
Brian

When I was a child I was a dreamer,
I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic book
And I saw movies and I was the hero in the movie
So every dream I´ve ever dreamed has come true a hundred times.

That is a Ron Wolfe photo from Asheville July 24. Remember, however, that Elvis gave away at least one of those rings to a member of the audience early on in the show. Ron Wolfe's photos are all taken from that angle - I see you have a few of them dated for New Haven... In fact, in the second attachment you posted, the last two photos on top row and first 4 four on second row are Ron Wolfe photos from July 24...the b&w ones were new to me. Another set of photos was taken by a North Carolina photo agency. In addition to these, it seems Keith Alverson (only seen one of his from Asheville) and Len Leech were present, too. It's claimed that Harold Newton also took photos at Asheville, but all his photos with this suit I've seen are from different shows.bripet56 wrote: But what then is this? It does seem to me we don't actually have any photos from July 17...
PS: There were quite a few new-to-me shots in you attachments...

Re: New Haven July 17 1975 - no photos around?
Incidentally, there was an old post here where a member who attended the New Haven July 17th show claimed Elvis wore the Gypsy suit, not the chicken bone suit. A while back I presented these two photos from New Haven in which he appears to wear two different chokers...
The one on the right is a Cathi Avenell photo which I thought was from the 16th but am now starting to think is from the 17th...then the "mystery" photos which I have refused to believe are from Cleveland would fit "nicely" onto July 16th...
But the above, if anything, can be called pure conjecture...!

Scott I was at the July 17 New Haven show. Elvis wore the gypsy suit. Any photos of him in the other suit that are dated July 17 1975 are wrongly dated.

Thanks for that...just to be clear, when we're talking about the gypsy suit, we're talking about the one in my previous post...?Pete Dube wrote:Scott I was at the July 17 New Haven show. Elvis wore the gypsy suit. Any photos of him in the other suit that are dated July 17 1975 are wrongly dated.

So do we think Elvis wore the Gypsy suit at BOTH shows in New Haven??Scott Hayward wrote:Incidentally, there was an old post here where a member who attended the New Haven July 17th show claimed Elvis wore the Gypsy suit, not the chicken bone suit. These are both New England...Band wearing red band wearing blue. Elvis wearing gypsy and tiger tooth. Man it's confusing trying to date concerts. Both by Cathi Avenell.

Sorry, I got so many photos up right now so I never noticed that they were from both Springfield shows.ArtyMorty wrote:Didn't he only play one show on the 14th ? seems like two different shows, two suits etc.?
The one with the band in red is from July 14 and the one with the band in blue is from the 15th.
