Certainly, this is one of the great sessions in Elvis' career. The songs are terrific, the performances even better. It's a shame an album's worth of material was not done, since he would not return to a professional studio for twenty-two long months. Presley was in his prime, master of the form, and it's depressing to imagine what was lost. One listen to the German home demos in 1959 proves he was only getting better and better.

Someday, a book of all the photos taken should be published. What we have in this topic shows Elvis looking beyond handsome, and a tremendously good vibe amongst all the musicians. And no one looked better in an army uniform, that is certain.
