Nancy Anderson was an editor for Photoplay magazine and an entertainment reporter for the Copley News Service. She first met Elvis in 1956 when she interviewed him on the set of "Love Me Tender." Nancy, like Elvis, was a Tennessee transplant living in Hollywood, and they became friends due to their mutual affection for Southern Gospel. They remained friends throughout Elvis' life and Nancy wrote an article for Copley in 1969, chronicling Elvis' International Hotel debut. Here is an excerpt from the rough draft of the article that she sent to Colonel Parker.

Re: Nancy Anderson
Anderson was a very typical Hollywood PR person who gained Elvis' favor with nothing but favorable puff pieces in the gossip magazines, and things like Photoplay. But they were never "friends."
