That is the exact spot where we found an injured stray puppy in June 1995.

We named her McKellar and took her home with us.

We had to say good-bye to her on April 13.

McKellar: Jan 8, 1995 to Apr 13, 2010

15 years of love, friendship and wonderful memories.
Sorry to hear about McKellar. She looks like such a great dog!
I am experiencing something similar as my beautiful German Shepherd "Big Bear" passed away last week. We are gutted. She was with us for 14 great years.

Awesome photo of Elvis on his boat Terry!

Imagine strolling along the water and there is Elvis trying out his new purchase!

Doc, nice humane story about McKellar. I always get very sentimental as far as animals are concerned. Due to my lifstyle I have always had cats, and I lost one after 17years and 3 months in August 2000 and I still miss Smokey to this day, it has to be even worse losing a dog as they are even more 'attached' to there owner. The one thought of comfort is that at least we gave these animals many years of a happy and contented life.

Great pictures of Elvis on McKellar lake.

Wow. Lior is right: Bat-Bat, Big Bear and Smokey are all in Heaven now. We were lucky to have such wonderful creatures call us their friend.

(Sorry to have thrown the topic a bit off-track.)

As Doc says we've gone off track, but please bare with me as I share this poem.

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
and pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad - I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
What is to come - can have no fears,
You'd not want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only stay with me until the end,
And hold me firm and talk to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you too will see,
It is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve that it should be you
Who has to decide this thing to do
We've been so close, we two these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

I now have two more loving companions - Whisky and Truim. Getting a new pet does help but, of course, you never forget those gone before.
