Elvis rocks McKellar lake: Elvis Presley and several friends took a spin around McKellar Lake in his new boat on Friday, July 8, 1960. He purchased the 16-foot powder blue speedboat the night before. Elvis said he became interested in boating while in California. Asked if he planned to ski, he said: ''Not today. Don't want to make an idiot of myself.''

I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was against the law to fill the lake with light bulbs then shoot them. Lamar will clean it up, sir. Where is his fat ass?

Thanks. It's been over 5 months and we still miss her every day.
Often, when we looked at McKellar, we thought about Memphis, Elvis, Sun Studios, and all the rest. She was a kind, fun-loving animal, part chow (note her black tongue) and part shepherd -- we were convinced she was related to Get-Lo, the chow chow Elvis owned in 1975.

Doc
You did a good deed by caring for that dog.So many people can just turn a blind eye to such things. It's amazing how much they give back to us.Thanks for sharing such a positive story.

Wow, Doc. That is a wonderful story, and I am very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is tough. I lost my dog in 1999, and I still think of her often, too.

Thank you
Peter1970,
jak and
KHoots for the kind words.
Peter1970, I just noticed that you misplaced the 1960 Elvis image in the contemporary photo.
He and Charlie and the boat are down by the waterline, but you have them placed with their backs to the lake and far from the water, near the grass as you enter the lot. I know, I've been there.

Sorry, but this was the only picture I had from that location.
