I think this was the first movie that he appeared so radically different. I just can't put my hand on it, but he is puffy and strangely distant. I realize that he was deep into the "Larry Geller" period, and having some radical thoughts regarding his career and purpose, but he comes across so oddly distant here, almost as if he was bodily present, but not mentally and emotionally.

Although I realized that this wasn't going to be a "Blue Hawaii" sequel, I was very shocked that the powers that be in Hollywood proceeded with filming rather than postpone it to give Elvis a chance to get himself together. Col. Parker and the filmmakers had to see it.

"More people today should see him not simply as a performer, but as an artist with a great soul."

I saw Elvis live in concert the year before he died. Even then, he was bigger than life, and had amazing charisma. Haven't seen anything like it since, ....until Adam.........Nocturnal 2010
