Inigo Montoya wrote:...It's a fairly simple concept.
Know-it-all types stating categorically that someone is wrong when it comes to a thing as subjective as musical appreciation, or similar, are flying in the face of logic; by definition, they can be accused of being just as wrong.
By definition, they are. If they stated that such-and-such a song was based on such-and-such a tradition of music, or written by whoever, then they may actually be right; if they state that a certain song has little or no merit they are merely stating an opinion, even if based on some academic or aesthetic tradition, and are wrong unless they state that this is merely their opinion, only, in which case -- like those they seem to see as lesser mortals (everyone else) -- they may be right, they may be wrong, and they may be crazy but it just may be a lunatic they're looking for. Something like that, anyway.
Anyone can have an opinion about anything.

But there are those who've read all the books, seen all the clips, spent a lifetime studying the subject, and reckon they know a whole lot more than you do.

Their opinion is going to be worth so much more than yours, isn't it ?

I mean, it's an informed opinion, isn't it ?

It will carry weight, whereas yours will be blown away by the first breeze that comes along.................... probably their flatulence..........

Yes, and that would be very incorrect.
BigredG wrote:This is not an uncommon view amongst Elvis fans.
This is also incorrect. For one thing, most "Elvis fans" don't even know he played shows in 1975, let alone spend time putting the 1975 Vegas and tour performances under a microscope.

This is only a topic of discussion in the realm of the hardcore fan base.

Welcome to the real world!
"Most Elvis fans don't even know he played shows in 1975"??? Oh boy, you are a character! smt174

Another incredibly weak post that none too cleverly avoids the pertinent question. I can see why you would do this, as to provide an answer is going to prove very embarassing to you. Let's take it to All Elvis.

The Doc is right. These discussions are ONLY relevant to us, here. Welcome to the real world, indeed.

And the performance of "You'll Never Walk Alone" Is not one of the "great moments in Elvis' live career." This one doesn't make the history books either. It's nice. That's all.

This forum is just great. one prime reason being that you never know what you might learn. I, for example, just found out that Elvis performed live in 1975. Who knew? I thought he was off starting his 'lost weekend' phase with May Pang at the time.

Don't be so quick to dispel the power of that performance. Eleven days later, to the day, one Jimmy Hoffa disappeared forever.

Think about it.

You have crossed the line now "Joe" (if that is even your real name!!??) (Not a plumber are you?)

You can blindly agree with the Doc's ludicrous assertion that most Elvis fans do not know Elvis did live shows in 1975 if you want.

But coming on here and disrepecting the Doc as above is beyond the pale. This man has served the forum selflessly, and with nary a thankyou, since it's start, and you come on here rubbishing his opinions ,with your measely 195 posts to back you up!! How very dare you!

Please refrain from disparaging remarks and double talk. There is something warped about what goes on here.

You're "catching on fast", I'll give you that.

Just be careful dissing the Doc, that's all I was trying to say Joe.

You were.

Elvisjock wrote: The impromptu performance of "You'll Never Walk Alone" is one of the great moments in his live career, no matter what year.

drjohncarpenter: Agree 110%

110% Joe, not 100%. This means that the Doc not only thinks that "You'll Never Walk Alone" is one of the great moments in his live career, he thinks it is better than that!!

So wash your mouth out!!!

Well I hesitate to ask, but where are all your posts? If you were Johnny 99 I could understand, but Joe Roberts should have ample internet access.

I guess I did disagree with the Doc. I guess he is probably mature enough to understand that a disagreement is not a "dis"

In fact, the Doc can disagree with me disagreeing with him and it STILL won't be a "dis" or a war. These are just opinions.

And where are all my posts? I guess I'm a man of few words.

I think that as you are a character from the work of The Boss, he will cut you a little slack. And as your "disagreement" was in the sprit of an anti '75 statement, you will be still be on "the list".

Yes Robert he did. But only a few fans know about these 100+ concerts, so do not feel too bad about your ignorance.
