I don't understand

I'm not sure I understand your question.

Are you asking between the two pictures you have shown,
are they the same suit....?

If that's what the question is, I would assume they are
if taken at the Hilton at different times, just different display...

I'm assuming both pictures are taken at the Hilton, because as far
as I know EPE has never display their Aloha suit without it being
on a mannequin.....

Now if the question is, what is the difference between the two
Aloha suits...???

First off the main difference is the size....

The latter Aloha suit Not worn on the Aloha Special was made
slightly larger which is noticeably visual when you see a picture
of Elvis wearing the design in 74' to support his extra weight....
This second version is the one which EPE has on display
in Memphis at Graceland....
The Hilton has in their procession the Aloha suit Elvis
wore on the Aloha Special January 14th 1973....
pictured here...
Keep in mind this display was removed from the Hilton lobby
years ago and has been kept in far as I know.

Now other than being able to tell Elvis was visually heavier in
74' than in 73' during the special....

The question may be how else do you tell the difference between
the suit's???

Well, from out side looking in the main difference would be
where the stud work or rather the dart area in front of the
suit takes place....

When you look at a picture seen below, you will notice
the top picture on the left is a picture of the Aloha suit
worn during the special, the picture on the top right
is a picture of the Aloha suit the Hilton had on display...
You will notice the dart area in the front of the suit show's
the dart going through two nail heads...where
on the bottom picture is a picture of Elvis wearing the design
in 74' you will notice the dart area is now going through
three nail heads, which is also the way the dart area is going
through on the picture on the bottom right, which is a picture
of the suit Graceland uses for their display....

With this one very small detail is the telling tail of the differences
between the suits....

I'm sure on closer inspection there would probably be a few
more minor details which are different about the design if
given the chance to beable to put the suits side by side with
each other....

Nevertheless, the bottom line is sad as it may seem to some,
the reality is in my opinion Graceland does not have the actual
Aloha suit Elvis wore on the Special January 14th 1973 an that
it appears the Hilton by default has the actual suit, given to them
by mistake back in 78'....

In the mean time, once again as far as I know, unless you or
anyone else knows different the Hilton has kept the Aloha suit in
storage for a few years now...

Too bad really for a number of reasons, the main one being
is in all the years they have had this suit in their procession
if it is any indication has to how they have displayed the suit
in the past, they inreturn have not been taking the measures
to ensure the suit is well taken care of in there
proably is No one to step up to the even care or
understand really what they have in their procession

Thank you very much for your nice description.

A other difference is the colour.

-Jumpsuit at Graceland : colour of pant fold is blue.
-Jumpsuit at Vegas Hilton : colour of pant fold is red.

"Aloha Suit" Hilton Display !

Hello PEP,

Well, well...

I'm lost !

I think PEP is spot on.....the suit displayed by Graceland as the suit worn for Aloha From Hawaii is the 1974 version of said suit.

FWIW, there were three Aloha belts made, two for the TV special (EP gave one to Jack Lord) and the third for the 74 variant, which has two extra stones in the buckle:

Just got back from the Hilton. I talked with an employee about the suit and they said due to all the negative responses regarding the previous display, they decided to put in on a mannequin. He directed me to the Star Trek Experience where to my horror I saw an Aloha suited Spock battling the Klingons.

Ok seriously, I did just get back from the Hilton, however the suit is not on display anywhere. It looks like the previous pictures are from a while ago. I go to the Hilton a couple times a month and haven't seen the suit on display for ages, but if I do see it again I'll let you all know, and whether or not it is presented in a dignified way. Until then, you might want to call off the dogs and cancel those e mails to the Hilton.
