The day ol' Vern made the three phone calls was the 13th (July)! I wonder when all that was decided. There must of been a summit meeting held in preperation! Sonny was telling me the last time he saw Presley was on the 5th (Sonny's birthday) when they took Presley home after the (last) gig at the Mid South! West saw Presley walk up the stairs and out of his (Sonny's) life!

76 philly
Thank you for these pictures, friends. Despite what the "experts" say about Elvis in 1976, I for one, can say his voice and performace on June 28, 1976 was very good. I had seen Elvis in 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1974 in concert. While the 1976 show certainly did not have the same intensity as the 71 or 72, shows, yet Elvis need not make any apology for the 76 performance. Songs like "Mountain," America," and 2 complete versions of "Hurt" demonstarted just how magnificent hi voice was. The full falsetto on the end of the reprise on "Hurt" is something I will always remember. The passion of "And I Love You So," and the joy of "If You Love Me" and "Jailhouse Rock" had all of us going on an incredible ride that night.
