Who is the couple in the pic? This is one of the strangest pics I have ever seen (with Elvis in it). No MM, nobody really gawking or hanging all over him.

Try reading Brian's post. :D

Stayawayjoe!
Mr. Lundberg is still alive, and coninues to be a journalist in a Swedish newspaper. At least he was until recently. The meeting is very well described in a book called "Kungen av Sverige" (King Of Sweden). He might even be the editor of that book, but I'm at work and not able to check. It is written in the swedish language. It's a nice little story, one of thousands where fans got to meet their Idol.

A former friend of mine has also met Elvis backstage in september 73
he said, when he look in Elvis eyes, Elvis was extremely good looking ( not from this earth), and super friendly. his meeting was not more then a minute

The live picture is made by a dutch photgrapher laurens van Houten. from the balcony.
a few pictures of that concert can be found in a book "Caught in a trap"
by Arjan Deelen.

When you look to the second picture you see one of the Sweet's.
she wears the same clothes as she wears on stage on september 1 dinner show
im trying to find a picture where you can see the sweets inspirations whit Elvis

A fine book, by the way, at least for those of us who can read swedish.

If I recall correctly, his impressions of Elvis at this meeting were at least that

*Elvis kept looking down ("He's shy!"); Joe Esposito, who took the third photo, had tell Elvis to look up

*Neither Mr. Lundberg nor his wife, who was a nurse, could see any trace of drug abuse, which at this point had really started to accelerate. They did notice that he was very pale, but they put it down to stage makeup.

*They told Elvis: "You know what we want in Europe" (meaning him touring there) and Elvis replied "Very well!" and made his stock speech about coming over soon...

Sten berglind, a reporter from the same Swedish newspaper, did also meet Elvis in 1973, here together with Todd Slaughter: http://www.expressen.se/index.jsp?a=12210

It´s in Swedish, but it´s a fun story about how close he was to be on the same stamp as Elvis in Somalia :D

And i believe this is from the show

Stayawayjoe; then you believe wrong. It's not from the same show. Might be the same belt though. The photos from backstage with Todd and the Swedes must've been taken later than Sept 1. if the chain is the same as presented to Elvis as pictured here (and I believe it is). http://www.elvis-collectors.com/candid- ... oom74.html
By the way, Funky this is the same suit as the one in your bottom photo.
The photos might've been taken the same day though, just different shows.
The suit worn backstage would be the "Target suit" , the one from on stage is named "the Amber suit" in the jumpsuit section of this magnificent site.
