Found these rare shots long time ago on internet. Think they were being sold on Ebay.

Too bad there ain't too many good shots from those 6 shows.

What are thoose pictures all about :?:

In the pix Elvis is kneeling beside a woman on a stretcher who has had both her legs broken and Elvis autographs the cast.

However, I can't fit the suit into any of the shows at the Astrodome but then again, don't think I have pix from all shows.

He really was a thoughtful and considerate person. Thanks again for the awesome pics Brian!

Is is maybe the white herringbone suit? Perhaps Elvis didn't arrive at the Astrodome dressed for the show?

It does look like the suit he wore in Vegas in 69 didn't it? Good eye DarrylMac!

Thanks Joe!

We wore the black one right through 1970, including when he met Nixon, so there's no reason to think he wouldn't wear the white one too.

Yeah, that's true. Are we are to assume that he didn't wear this outfit for the concert itself, but prior to the show, is that correct?

Wed Nov 22, 2006 10:26 pm

Yeah, I was thinking about that suit too.

Elvis arrived in Houston on Feb 25 and had a type of rehearsal on the 26th but I doubt he would hold this in the evening as it looks to be in the photos.

It does look like he was on his way for a show in the lower right pic, couldn't it. Could it be that he simply used that suit for one of the shows?

As far as I know, he used the Blue Tapestry Suit, The White with Green patterned Tapestry suit, the White Tapestry suit from the back of the On Stage Album, and the white suit with pearl collar for his shows at the astrodome.

Feb 27th 2.00pm

Feb 27th 7pm

Feb 28th 2pm

Feb 28th 7 pm - not the clearest pic, but it's definitely the "pearl" suit.

march 1st 2pm

Was there a 6th show on the 1st at 7pm? Other than that, there are pics in the candid central section of Elvis arriving for shows in houston in different clothes than he wore on stage, so i'm sure he got changed at the venue. He may well just be on his way backstage to the dressing room when these pics were taken.[/img]

If they go by the previous two days, the second show would have been at 7:45 PM on March 1, as the schedule was 2:00 PM and 7:45 it seemed.

How about Oklahoma, November 16th, wearing the white rib suit? Damn I wish I knew how to post pics. Anyway, it's in our Jumpsuit Junkies section, click on 1970, the page 7 at the bottom. Let me know what you think.

Thanks DarrylMac and Joe Car for your inputs.

Yes, there were 6 shows, 2 each day at 2:00 and 7:45 and that´s why I speculate in if these photos are from one of the shows.

I've visited: where they have show 1: White Sleek, show 2, Thin Green Leaf, show 5: White Pearl and show 6: Blue Aqua. says : show 1: White Sleek, show 2: Thin Green Leaf, show 3: Blue jumpsuit show 4 and 5: White Pearl.

http://www.elvis-in-concert-com say: Show 1: White Sleek, show 2: Thin Green Leaf, show 3: Blue Indian Leather, show 4 and 5: White Pearl and show 6: Blue Aqua. say: show 1 White Sleek, show 2 Thin Green Leaf, show 3 White Ribs, show 4 and 5 White Pearl and show 6 Aqua.

Is Blue Indian Leather the same as Blue Aqua or which suit is that?

As you can see all three agree on show 1, 2 and 5.

However, the three latter say he wore the White Pearl on Feb 28 eve (show 4) which is the evening he sat a new alltime world's record indoor rodeo performance with an attendance of 43.614 This can clearly be seen in photo where he ride in the jeep wearing the White Sleek suit. mention the White Ribs suit but I doubt if this is the suit in the photos I posted in my original posting. Looks more like the all white suit used in 69.

I'm trying to find out more about those shows to put some info and photos on my website as soon as I have enough and solid info.

Joe - this is from Oklahoma in November.

It's different to the herringbone suit, and is definitely a one piece jumpsuit. I don't think it could be the one in the Houston pics, as I think it was one of the new ones made by Bill Belew later in 1970.

Brian - it seems that for the second show on the 1st - the 6th overall, he wore the blue suit again (i'm sure it's the same suit they refer to, what I call the blue tapestry suit). So, we still don't have a Houston show for which elvis wore the white herringbone. I'm convinced he was using it as casual wear to arrive at the venue before getting changed.

you might be right DarrylMac.

I edited the text in my last posting as I found mention of the shows at as well where the White Ribs is mentioned for the third show. I don't think this is the suit in my original posting. I'm almost convinced it's the herringbone suit.

I have a strong feeling the photos Brian posted are from Vegas ´69. Just a hunch, though, not a fact. Elvis did not wear this suit in Houston, or did he?

Elvis in Astrodome Fan Club of Brazil
has a page devoted to Elvis´ 1970 shows in Houston

Some of the photos there are actually from Vegas. But you can see some photos of Elvis entering a bus. I understand they used the bus for the short ride between the hotel and the venue. And I believe that Elvis was never in the building, so to speak, in the backstage area of Astrodome. I may be wrong, though. But in that case Brian´s photos might not be from Houston at all.

Some old Graceland Express magazine has some excellent photos from Houston ´70. I try to find them if someone is interested in seeing them.

I can't see the pictures DarrylMac posted, so sorry if I post something twice.
But as far as I know, Elvis wore these suits during his Astrodome stand;

February 27th (afternoon) - White Broquade Suit

February 27th (evening) - Thin Green Leaf

February 28th (afternoon) - Blue Broquade Suit

February 28th (evening) - White Cossack Top Jumpsuit

March 1st (afternoon) - White Cossack Top Jumpsuit

March 1st (evening) - White Broquade Suit

So I don't think those pictures are from Houston, Brian.
Unless they're from the rehearsal day, as you mentioned earlier....?

J - we weren't saying that suit was worn on stage in Houston, but that we used it to travel to the venue in. There are some great pictures of Elvis getting off the bus in a blue fringed suit, arriving at the venue, so he must have used the venue's facilities to get changed for at least some of his shows. He definitely wore the black herringbone suit throughout 1970 as casual wear, so it's not out of the realms of possibility that he wore the white one this way too.

Interesting, I hadn't seen enough pix from those shows to notice the amp before but I see he played the Gretsch through a Vox. (How Beatlesesque!)

Thanks guys for your interesting inputs.

J. I agree on at least the three first of your pix. Those are most likely the suit he wore on those shows. I also agree on the fifth show as this is the suit that is referred to by most for this show.

However. The fourth and sixth should probably trade places as your last photo clearly show the sign telling about the attendance record of 43.614. I would guess that this sign would be lit up during the actual show in which he sat this record.

DarrylMac. Those pix of Elvis in the blue fringed suit are most likely from his departure on March 2. He was dressed in this jacket and a pair of black trousers that day. We don't see him inside the Dome in any of those pix.

Brian - no, Paul has them as Elvis ARRIVING for his matinee show on the 28th - and Elvis is clearly seen getting off the bus, and walking past fans at the stadium.

The plot thickens!!!!

Thu Nov 23, 2006 2:27 pm

Actually, I've just looked at the pics again. Is that the blue tapestry jumpsuit, with a blue fringe jacket on over the top of it???
