It's wonderful and encouraging that more and
more people are uploading pictures and I don't
want to lecture you, but we have got a lot of
users on dial-up and pictures this size take
quite some time to load.
So maybe all of us could consider to either
resize our XL photos or put the ImageShack thumbnail?
It is really very easy. Once you have uploaded
your picture / Host It! (check the box
remove size/resolution bar from thumbnail? if you'd like
to) you copy and paste the link Thumbnail for forums (1)
This way the people on dial-up can let
the photos load in a seperate window.
Also the texts don't get stretched out.
Honestly I don't like scrolling left and right to read
the complete messages.
I have got a 17-inch TFT flat panel monitor.

Hi Melanie!
Elvis often taped the fingers next to the ones on which he wore large rings to avoid getting scratched from the rings.
Sincerely
Brian

When I was a child I was a dreamer,
I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic book
And I saw movies and I was the hero in the movie
So every dream I´ve ever dreamed has come true a hundred times.

This necklace is a so called "Lion's Claw".Melanie wrote:Re: photo #1
Can anyone say a few words about the necklace?
Also do I see a taped pinky, even though
there is no ring on that finger?
Does that mean it fell off, somebody in
the audience stole it or just a tape?
Elvis started to wear it during his January/February 1973 engagement in Las Vegas.
During the June/July tour of the same year it was used again on several dates, sometimes on a long chain (like in the picture) and sometimes on a short, thick chain (album sleeve of "Today").
That means if you see a picture with this necklace it's 1973.
Fourteen years right down the drain, man, I'm tellin' ya!
I am in agreement with "the fool" about
the pics was taken by George Hill,
as for as the date..
I believe it was march 5, '74 at the Garrett Coliseum
in Montgomery, Al.
the same evening that
then Gov. George Wallace visited Elvis backstage

Elton, if you look at pictures from the March 1974 tour (including Montgomery) you will notice he's wearing the "Diamond Maltese Cross" as a necklace, not the "Lion's Claw". Therefore you can regard the date The Fool mentioned as being the right one.

stayawayjoe - Well done with the thumbnails!
Great photos, but in the second picture the eyes
are almost all white. I know he is looking to the left
side, but damn that sure looks a little freaky. LOL
Leroy - Thank you for the detailed info.
So it is a real lion's claw?
In the b/w photo it looked as if it might be a gemstone.
