Hi Funky!

Short sideburns makes it look like a 1960´s photo and that is, as you know, not my strongest period.
Looks like some spotlights in the back.
Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

Sincerely
Brian

It's a very beautiful picture, one that I have never seen before. But I actually don't think it's a 60's photo, Elvis doesn't look mature enough for it. My guess is the set of King Creole, set of the filming or of the promo shoot.

On a set like this

I also thought this is from King Creole. Perhaps the answer can be found in the number/code given to this photo. There are several photos in the Inside King Creole book that show similar numbers starting with that 10216, for example on page 37.

Could it be associated with the shoot for the cover of His Hand In Mine?

My immediate thought was Wild in the Country pub shoot?

True - at first I thought the his hair was too short in the back and too long on the top to be from Wild In The Country. But I might have been wrong? What ya think?

I think we have to look at Elvis' hair in the back. Look how short it is, almost like in the army. Much shorter than in Wild In The Country.

I think we have to look at his hair in G. I. Blues to find the time-frame. That's the only time his hair was so very short in the back, except from in the army.

What do you think?

Actually, Elvis hair was cut very short for King Creole already. Check it out:

Also, the Fool makes a very good point with the numbers written on the photo. Wouldn't it be lika matrixnumber for a photo? So this series of number would probably only be used for a particular movie. At least not be used again 2-3 years later.

Hehe... I feel like MacGyver but without all the dangerous stunts!!

Good night everyone!

I think so. If you check the book Inside Jailhouse Rock, you will see (some of) the photos coded with the number 1719. This was the production number of that movie, as can be seen in various documents.

Also, to me it seems that the back of Elvis´ hair in this photo has been retouched. Somehow it just seems strange. But could be just my imagination.

I think it's a candid from the set of Jailhouse Rock.

Remember Elvis wore a "Short hair "wig for a few scenes.

This picture looks like one of those shots.

I'm not very computer savvy to post a picture from those Jailhouse Rock scenes, but i'm sure some of you could.

Then we can do a better comparison.

Answering this at work I don't have my photos to compare with but Little Sisters photo from King Creole could be very similar only I think his hair is even shorter in the photo we're discussing.

The serial or matrixnumber is a very good point. I don't have the "Inside King Creole" book nor any other of the "Inside-books" (sorry Ger) so I really can't compare. But it would make sense and thus putting the photo to the King Creole session.

I'm no expert by any means, but when I first saw this photo, I immediately thought it was done during Wild in the Country time frame as well.
