Rare photos of Elvis at Graceland

I have asked about this first picture before... and most people where gussing 1960's. I think mostly 'cause of the sideburns, but I would guess also 'cause of his more mature bodyframe.

But I always wanted it to be 1957 'cause I knew that I had seen a photo of Elvis wearing the same outfit in the book Elvis & Gladys. But when I went to look for the picture I couldn't find it - some of the pages had fallen out. But while cleaning my room the other day I discovered it stuck in another book. So here are both photos. What are your takes on a year or date now?



I think that they are very intriguing pictures, Elvis looks so different in what he is wearing, and I don't think I have ever seen him wear a tie like that before.

These are great photos Little Sister. Elvis does look very different wearing his tie like this.
I was going to say early 1958 as it seems Elvis' sideburns are a bit shorter than usual. Compared the photos with some from the King Creole session and though it looked very similar.
Then suddenly I read what is written below your new photo where it says summer 1957. The photo could very easily be from the summer of 1957.
At least I don't believe they're from the 1960´s

Yes, the author did date the photo as 1957. But alot of the times the books can be wrong, so I didn't know.

Buthis hair does have the Jailhouse Rock look to it - long and without all the grease. And by the summer of 1957 Elvis didn't wear his sideburns so long. So This she's probably right about the date...
