# 3 is a new (to me) view of Elvis and Ginger boarding the Lisa Marie in Kansas City on 6/19/77. The more common photos were being shot by Sean Shaver from a position to Elvis' left.

Sean was also responsible for the this airplane boarding sequence being filmed on Super 8. Recently reissued on Return To Splendour DVD from Memory Records.

Paul: Regular visitor of your page. Directed you to the 1971 karate photos earlier this year.
There are so many beautiful pictures, that I forget I see them, but already have them in my files.

Which pictures are new to you? Always interested in knowing if there are any rare shots. Thanks.

#4 Snowing in Memphis? What's with the formal attire?

#5 Live A Little, Love A Little? Congress something written on the door?

#7 Is the guy he is shaking hands with famous?

#9 One of the oddest photos I have ever seen capturing a fan on stage

#17 Comeback Special press ?

#18 Is that a Stanley next to him ?

#19 Texas press ?

#20 Is this one of the earliest cigar photos ?

#22 Is that a round medallion ?

#24 Is that the little boy who attended the concert in a jumpsuit?

#25 Is the guy showing his karate skills?

#26 What's with Nipper hanging on the curtain?

#28 Is that an all white suit?

#31 What's with the car cover? Looks like a kilt.

#32 Great photo! Sheer coolness.

#33 On the set of Love Me Tender?

#35 On stage or in the studio?

#25 was taken at the Hillcrest house - Sonny Hughes was a fan who, everytime he came around, always wanted to do karate moves with Elvis. There's quite a few photos of the two of them together in various karate poses...

I find picture 12 very sad, that girl with Elvis in 1976, I would say Vegas because he has a stool, did'nt know the bad health Elvis was in, and that he would be dead in 9 months time. Sad, but nice pic. Thanks for sharing all of them, many new ones to my eyes

Sat Jun 10, 2006 2:33 pm

Sandi: Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.

Brian: As always a walking database! Thank you so much.
With all the excitment of the World Cup I couldn't have
gotten those dates myself these days.

But no dates at all wouldn't have been a big problem.
At least I got to share the photos with all of you and
most pictures really speak for themselves don't they?

#12 is from Dec 30, 1976 in Las Vegas.
By the way, Scott Haigh, Elvis is NOT sitting on a stool in that pic, he is down on one knee in order to have eye contact with the little girl while putting the scarf around her neck.
The stool he used in Vegas was pretty high.

I don't think it's a sad photo. I see joy and ahppiness in the photo. From both the girl and Elvis.

Sincerely
Brian

I think you meant 03, Elvis was in Atlanta for the 30th

But i still find the picture sad, Elvis does'nt look good, and should'nt have been on stage in Vegas or on tour for all of 1976 except the December tour

Sun Jun 11, 2006 12:17 pm

Sorry for the mix-up Scott.
I meant December 30, 1976 in Atlanta.
At least that's what it say on my digital-copy of the photo

Sincerely
Brian

Do you have a bigger version of it?

Unfortunately Paul, no I don't, sorry!

Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:05 pm

Ah now that you cleared up the date for me Brian, i feel more optimistic for that picture. Thats one of my fave tours, Elvis was in a good mood, and i'm sure that little girl only helped his good feelings

#6, June 29, 1969 Atlanta with Governor Jimmy Carter and Wife

That pic is from June 29, 1973, not 1969. Just a typo, I'm sure, but I thought I would add the correct date. :D

Thanks KHoots, don't know how I could make such a blunder.

Paul,

Image is a still capture from Sean Shaver's movie footage. Shaver also uses this same kind of semantic trickery to make fans believe that what they are seeing is a "new" pic..

(Generally speaking: If "sources" were always provided as a courtesy for the photos of others, used in this section by others - often without permission, ...... it would help - on a number of levels).

Melanie, photo # 9 is from Opening Night, August 18th 75. You commented on it being a strange "Elvis and fan" photo. As you know, there were only 5 shows in this engagement, as Elvis was really extremely unwell. But he began the engagement with a lot of attack, and did a very lively Polk Salad Annie with a great variety of movements. But he must have been exhausted by it, as he first sat on the edge of the group's rostrum, then from there lay down flat on the stage, as in the photo. A man yelled out, "Elvis, my wife wants to give you mouth-to-mouth resuscitation!" to which Elvis said "OK". Charlie helped the wife, who was at least 70 years old, onto the stage and as she drew close to Elvis's face with her hand resting on his stomach, Elvis said nervously, "Are you sure you know what you're doing?" She kissed him and rushed ecstatically back to her seat holding up her fists and shaking them as if in triumph. Elvis struggled back onto his feet.
