You guys and gals know these pix of our man behind the mask. Supposed to be from a Halloween-party in 1957 before Elvis sailed to Hawaii.

I had never seen the 2nd photo before. Thanks for posting!!

I know that these pictures where on the website of the woman with the bandana. I remember the Doc posting them here a couple of years ago, he said that she was like Pamela Anderson of the 50's. Do you remember anything else Doc? I know I have tried to reach her website but it has gone offline.

I do think we came to the conclusion that it was beer that Elvis was drinking. I guess that is always something... hehe :D

Thanks Sis, didn't know the pix had been on the internet. I did however have a note with her name Jeanne Carmen and when searching the internet I came up with the following

http://www.jeannecarmen.com/index.cfm?id=71975&fuseaction=browse&pageid=68

I don't dare post such pix on this website so you better check for yourself. Wow

Yeah, about two years back I posted some of these.

It's from Hollywood designer Sy Devore's 31 Oct '57 Halloween party, probably the only time Elvis ever did something like this. SY later put together those great suits Elvis wore in 1962-63 for films like "World's Fair."

Jeanne Carmen is the B-movie actress you speak of, and her site is available at the link Brian posted above. You can see a listing of her film output at imdb.com.

That girl he's with in the last photo--Joan Bradshaw--there is another photo but taken at a different angle of those two in a 'TEEN magazine from 1958 I think--on the cover is some kid with a basketball jersey--but about Joan and Elvis, I guess he dated her--but one night he went to her apartment unannounced and she had a date with her there and he was so p-o-ed he backed up through the garden below her apartment and eventually had to pay for the damage he caused...supposedly.

Found my TXT file with the caption for the Joan B photo but NOT the photo :(

It's in Teen Magazine - February 1958

A COSTUME PARTY was the only reason Elvis Presley covered up his famous features with that ornate and golden mask. He's in conversation with a reporter and Joan Bradshaw.

The classic features were still unmistakeable, even under the mask!

It was reversed, and may well be "Jailhouse Rock" actress Gloria Pall.

Gloria Pall was the one whose legs were seen in Jailhouse Rock.

Gloria Paul is another actress..........

It was reversed, and may well be 17 year-old Gloria Paul.

Doc, Gloria Paul would be 17 in 1957 as you stated but she did not appear in Jailhouse Rock.
Gloria Pall was the stripper in Jailhouse Rock and she in 1927 so she would be 30 when she appeared in JR.

The girl with Elvis wearing the mask could look like Gloria Pall. Anybody out there having read her book and if so, did she mention anything about attending the Sy Devore party??

Transposed typo has been corrected.

It's almost certainly "Jailhouse Rock" actress Gloria Pall. Besides the striking similarities between the images I posted, the party took place in Beverly Hills in October 1957. Elvis had completed two high-profile shows in Los Angeles just days before, and "Jailhouse Rock" had just been released.

Extract from an interview with Gloria Pall

IT WAS I THINK IN 1957 IT WAS HALLOWEEN , I WENT TO A PARTY WITH A YOUNG MAN THAT LATER BECAME THE PRESIDENT OF PARAMOUNT PICTURES . WE WENT TO THIS PARTY , WE SAW A GROUP OF GUYS THAT WERE WEARING BLACK LEATHER AND WAS STANDING NEXT TO MOTOR CYCLES. I SAID LOOK AT THAT GROUP , AND HE SAID YEAH AND LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS STANDING AROUND HIM. I SAID , OH THAT'S A FRIEND OF MINE. COME ON OVER I WILL INTRODUCE YOU. SO WE WALKED OVER TO YOU KNOW WHO. I SAID BOB , I WANT YOU TO MEET MARLON BRANDO . ELVIS STARTED LAUGHING BECAUSE THERE WAS A MOVIE CALLED THE WILD ONES . STARRING NO OTHER THAN MARLON BRANDO. HE WAS APART OF A MOTOR CYCLE GANG , ELVIS WAS DRESSED JUST LIKE BRANDO. SO ELVIS WAS LAUGHING , AND HE SAID ITS NICE TO MEET YOU BOB . BOB SAID ITS NICE TO MEET YOU MARLON. AFTER WE LEFT THEY WERE ALL STILL LAUGHING BECAUSE THEY ALL NEW IT WAS ELVIS.

I saw him at a Halloween party and I didn't recognise him at first because he had a mask on and he was wearing a black leather outfit - motorcycle garb. He was surrounded by all these young, beautiful girls - very very young, just teenagers - and his whole Memphis Mafia group. I was with Bob Evans who was unknown on the Hollywood scene at the time - he later became head of Paramount Pictures- and Bob said, " Who is that guy? He's surrounded by women, he must be hot stuff." I said "Oh yeah, let me introduce you to him" So I went over to Elvis and I said " I recognise you under all that motorcycle garb" I said, "How you doing, Marlon?" - he was dressed like Brando in The Wild One, right? So I introduced him to Bob Evans and he had no idea who he was.

Wow. Sy Devore really knew how to throw a party.

Thanks David for confirming what I wrote about Gloria Pall.
