If you don't mind, James, here's the picture:

It looks like it was taken in Oct-Nov '70, anyone know for sure?

It appears to be a badge, and a belt. Can anyone confirm the date?

That pic is awesome. Thanks for posting that. I don't have any proof of it, but I agree with Doc's estimate of late 1970.

JamesVRoy very cool picture.....we can't get enough of these gems....that's for sure.... :smt031

I agree with the Doc & KHoots.....about the year...looking at the way the style of his hair is in this picture, I would say latter part of 1970...

WOW, great pic.

Looking at other pix from 1970 I´d say Nov-Dec 1970 for this one judging from his wild hair.

Sincerely
Brian

I can't be sure, but you can just make out the top of a belt buckle that looks like an american eagle - the same belt Elvis was wearing often during nov dec 1970.

It's stunning pic - thanks for sharing.

Sorry, I don't have a larger image, but is this the belt buckle you are refering too!

Great pic Funky.

I´ve only seen pix with Elvis from late 1970 wearing that belt.

There are meny photos in the BTI2 book of Elvis in his car with this same outfit and the cane. Sandi Miller tells the following:

Elvis loved his new Stutz. He told us all about the car and he also talked about that cane he had with the jewels on top. According to him it had a gun in the top of the handle, but who knows if he was telling the truth or not... he liked to pull your leg on things like that.

No, the belt i was thinking about was a black one that Elvis wore with his black mohair / fur suit to Sonnys wedding, and in Tupelo on the 29th, as seen in the other post from funkyangel.

Judging by his face and his hair I would say between November/December 1972. The belt he's wearing here is a black leather belt, the same he used during the wedding of Sonny West on December 28, 1970. See picture (the lower belt).

Thanks Leroy - that's the belt I had in mind.

As for Nov 1972, he was fairly puffy around the face for that tour, so i'm not convinced about it being that late.

Awesome picture. Thank you very much for transfering it to this forum.
Also great follow-up posts and nice detective work. Did his wife have any stories to share?

What is everyone's opinion on Elvis portraying a police officer in a serious film? If somebody would have offered him a role, do you think he would have declined out of respect for the real people?

Also are there any photos of his visit to the General? in Beverly Hills, after he had screened Patton?

There's a pic taken around this time, with Elvis in a black jacket, and his glasses, that I'm sure was taken by Ed Bonja on a plane. I can't find it anywhere, but it's credited to late 1970, and his hair is very similar.

I think there was a story about Elvis just coming out of the toilet when it was taken. Ring any bells?
