Great shots Little Sister. I didn´t see your post prior to my last writing.
The Portland photos are from his arrival to Portland which can be seen in different DVDs or Videos.
I just added the story about Elvis´ departure on August 27, 1957 along with three pix of Elvis and Anita.

That's pretty much what I thought, but I had the photos saved as Spetmeber 3, so I got confused. It does look like he is leaving
the train, not boarding it.
I remember watching a documentary series about America in the 50's (it concerned everything - politics, entertainment, family life etc.) It had footage from this date, and a man who had interviewed him said that he was amazed that Elvis - although the same age and earning a lot more money - called him Sir. I wish I had taped that episode. As I think it is the only time I have seen this footage.
That was great read Brian, thanks for posting it on your website. Anita and Elvis sure do look a lot in love - I don't remember ever seeing a picture of Elvis and Cilla looking at eachother like this. But I might be bias...
Is the boy standing behind Anita and Elvis Billy Smith? It looks a lot like him.

i'm new here, seeing that so many great pics were postet especially by Funkyangel, Bripet, LittleSister etc. Thank you very much for letting us all see your work.
I have one question, funkyangel, I dated these pics as you did, but when lookin closely at them I noticed that in the first Tupelo pic he is wearing a tie, in the others an open shirt with the amulett (don't know the english word) on a chord.
What do you think, are these maybe from different dates?
Here is one more picture from 09-27-57 Tupelo:

Little Sister, you are probally right (sincerely said!) about those images not being from Tupelo! The last image looks like a make - shift stage (perhaps Tupelo!) I am wondering if a make - shift stage would be strong enough for a piano, but who knows (hopefully someone!) L/S you noticed Billy Smith, too!
bripet56, thanks for the update (your website) and Jones, thank you, too!

Little Sister, I forgot to say thanks for uploading your images! I must say, I don't think he looked any better in the 50's, than he did on that tour! Jones, in regards your question, maybe the last image pertains to Tupelo! I tell you, it's hard being an historian on images, but I wouldn't have it anyone way!

I believe I have all three of Funky´s "Tupelo" pix at home. I will check when I get home in about 10 hours (working 14 hours today). I´m pretty sure they´re not from Tupelo all three. Last one is Tupelo, if memory serves me well.

I think the first two "Tupelo" pix are from Los Angeles, October 28th.

That theory would be supported by Elvis' shirt/tie/tiepin/hair (look at it falling down at the front) on the pressconference on that date.
Anyone know for sure?

Just checked my pix and the 4 pix Little Sister posted in her last letter are all from October 28, 1957 in Los Angeles.

OK, sorry for posting a gazillion msgs tonight. But I just stumbled a across a whole bunch of photos on TCB World, that I suspect is from October 28. Any thoughts? Also, note the golden tie, very cool!!
As I understand it, it was after all the tumbling with Nipper that Elvis got the cops after him, and they came out and filmed the show the following night. "I couldn't move. I had to stand still. The only thing I could move was my little finger." (well actually, he was talking about Florida then, but they never filmed the show in Florida did they?)

Little Sister, there are a couple more from Portland in Ger Rijff´s excellent "Long Lonely Highway"
In fact lots of great shots from this tour in that book.

Oh cool!!! Thanks for that info. I won't be able to buy it anytime soon, but I will defenitly put it on my list. Maybe I will find it 2nd hand somewhere, I managed to find Florida Close Up very cheap on a 2nd hand store online. And I'm very pleased with that one!! (of course!)

Great shots Little Sister. And all from October 28, 1957.
No, I don´t think they ever filmed any shows in Florida. LAPD did however, film Elvis show on October 28, 1957. They said they found nothing wrong with the show. Elvis was, however, told to cut out what the critics called the sexy overtones of the show.
Wouldn´t it be great to see this footage? Imagine seing Elvis rolling around on the floor with that Nipper-dog.
Wed Mar 08, 2006 1:06 am
Didn't they just film the October 29-show, after his show the previous day - where he bumped and grinded Nipper
But yes, that would be great footage!!
I was just thinking of what NBC (?) did with the Stones this last Super Bowl. Muting Jagger's mike everytime he said a "bad" word. I don't think that mainstream America really hasn't gotten any more liberal since the 50's. Or at least not the TV. The where cencouring Elvis in the 50's, Madonna in the 80's and now The Rolling Stones (!) in the 21st century.
Wed Mar 08, 2006 1:30 am
Nope Little Sister, according to the newspaper-clipping they filmed the first show and then ordered him to tone the second show down.
Gotta get some sleep now, see ya tomorrow again, I suppose.

Elvis is indeed talking about Florida, in 1956. After his first show he was told to stop moving, or else. The date was August 10. They did not film anything that day, as far as is known.
Did he not look AWESOME in Oct '57? Why oh why was there no film or audio recording of that tour? Another missed opportunity.
