Does anyone have any photos of across the street and the area around graceland back in the 60'70's.
I just wanted to see what it looked like back then for him.
I wonder what he would think of the area now, any comments?

Those are great pics, thanks.
Looks like a fast food place ,gas station.
i'll have to study those pics more.
if it wasn't for the area straight across from graceland it would be completely sad.
I bet he would have helped the neighborhood from becoming what it is now.

I see that back in the 70's grass went up to the rock fence on the outside, now it is sidewalk. When did they re-do this? Was it the same time they redid they street so people could pull over and not be caught in traffic???

I'd love to see what the area looked like back in the late 50's!
Graceland was pretty much out in the country back then.

Yes i would like to see pics from back then too.
it really is different now. what a shame.
it wouldn't be that way if he was still there, he would have lifted the place up.
he touched lives in alot of ways and the comunity as well.

For sure, Colin. Elvis was a sweater, whether he was in the sweltering Memphis heat, on stage, or on the set....

Possibly a reason he had his bedroom permanently cooled? (That... and I imagine it gets HOT in Memphis).
Elvis looks great as his 69/70 self on that horse. This was when he'd entered a new stage of growth -- from teenager/young man to adult. He never appeared better.
I like the pics of EP on his bike with Linda, too. It shows he was still a bit of a rebel at heart. I'd love a three-wheeler myself. But I'd always wear a helmet! EP sure was reckless, wasn't he? (Even if people were maybe a little more lax about things back then, it seems dangerous to have Linda completely helmet-free and flesh-exposed; if she'd come off, even at low speeds, it could have been exceptionally nasty).

You're not imaging things, Cryo. It gets ungodly hot in Memphis. Little wonder he kept his bedroom refrigerated!
