Software update

#408371

Post by fecc-mechanic »

Hi Folks!

As you can see the forum sure looks different.

The only function that I'm still working on right now is the search function - as I need to re-build the search database automation. Should only take a couple hours at most.

Some of the improvements:

A "Report To Moderator" button on each of the posts: Image once clicked and filled out, will send a report straight to PEP.

PEP now will also have the ability to "Warn" any members not behaving correctly, by simply using his new moderator tools. Also, he can temp-ban members anywhere from 2 minutes --- to indefinitely.

Your Own User Control Panel.

The ability to "Bookmark" a topic so you can get back to it easily (links to do so are at the top of each topic).

The ability to add "Friends" to your custom friends list in your user control panel.

The Ability to add/upload attachments.. And much more.

Hope ya'll enjoy it! :smt001

Of course, there could be some bugs.. If you notice any - please contact me via PM and I will do my best to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

May be an issue in the sessions table. Stupid question, but have you attempted refreshing? It should though go back to "no new...." once read.

Will look into it.

Technology eh ?

But this is kinda scary:

There is now a 'User Control Panel'.

I went in to it & there's a bit about 'friends'.

For me, it says :

"No friends online"

AND

"No friends offline"

How does it know so much about me ?

I think I should be told !

The great thing about it, is that it has fixed the problem where I could not stay logged in everytime I left the site. this has been a problem for me for over six months. I was never sure if it was my PC or the site, I even posted about it but never found the reason , but now with the update everything is ok.

Problem solved I guess. It kept showing the same message as new. I deleted it 3 times now it's gone I guess

After using the new board more I should say that the new possibilites are great. thanx again for the update.

Just a tiny request :smt003 this smily is repeated twice on the smilies panel. COuld you please change one of it to say :smt044 this lil' guy or whatever else

Jordan,

You have done tremendous work, and it's great to see so many suggestions being incorporated into the new format! Even the board structure has been updated, so we will no longer have to scroll left and right when someone posts a wide picture! I hope these changes will improve the user experience for everyone -- I suspect they will. The only quibble I still have is that links in posts don't open in a new window anymore; is this something you'd mind looking into?

To all FECC users: I recommend that you all take five minutes to look at every option in your control panel (see the link at the top right). There are options there concerning censorship and, probably more importantly, a "Foes" list. As I explained in the thread linked to above, the contents of posts by any member who is added to your Foes list will automatically be blocked from your view. Instead a link appears where their post should be asking if you want to view the post (this doesn't require opening a new window/tab). Considering many of you seem to have serious issues with certain other users, this may be an option you'd like to take a look at.

But I get great fun from reading posts from those I dislike !

Don't we all ?

No, seriously, I don't have any real 'foes' on here...............

Help needed !

Where does the 'edit' disappear to ?

When returning to a post, it's not there !

Like I just did a couple of edits on this post, but my earlier posts don't display the 'edit' icon !

Later entry:

I can still return to this post & edit, even if there are posts after it.

I'm not sure at which point the icon disappears ! [but it does eventually !]

A case in point:

My Vincent Price thread in this section.

I can edit my latest post.

But I can't add more pics to the original post now.

Strange !

Why do I have to type in log in name and password everytime?
Doesn't the log in remember your name and pasword?

All my own fault, I know, but whenever I try to post using the 'quote' facility, I select the wrong post the first time !

It's the new layout that fools me................... makes me click on the preceding one !
