Don't let 'm fool yah...

Post by MikeFromHolland »

.

In this thread there was a fake Elvis picture:

May 11, 1974 and more added...
http://www.elvis-collectors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=91727&p=1462596#p1462484

Of which I didn't know it was fake. Now I know, I see it as well. Thanks to TITI and javierTCB.

The experts see immediately when a pic is fake or not. We're not all experts. So here are some examples made by people who enjoy themselves spending time making these:

don´t you just hate what they do?
i sure do!

spreading through the world wide web, in a few years more and more people will confuse those photoshop jobs with the originals (and the technical possibilities are getting better every day!).

Teach a man how to fish and he´ll have dinner for a lifetime!

That's why you have to be a real Elvis expert in photographs. Newbies cannot tell at all!

You're right. And fake pictures are even sold on eBay as "very rare". For example, now on eBay:

ELVIS PRESLEY + KAREN CARPENTER 1969 RARE CANDID PHOTO from neg, free postage
Elvis and Karen Carpenter - fake on ebay.jpg

Yea, and it's really not fair to Rip off the newbies, too!

A nice article found on a Finnish site:
FOTO JATTA, Finland
Elvis in Helsinki, 1963 / 2011, digitalised negatives
An extensive photography-agency negative archive donated in 2008.

Editor-in-Chief Isto Lysmä wrote an article in Suosikki (favourite) magazine in summer 1963: “Elvis Presley vieraili 29.6. Helsingissä” (Elvis Presley visited Helsinki 29.6.). Two photographs printed in the magazine bear witness to the megastar’s visit. Negatives found in photo agency Valokuvaamo Foto Jatta’s archive reveal how these pictures were made: photos of an unknown assistant and of Elvis Presley were combined using reprography, cutting and pasting. The print-outs in the exhibition are of the manipulated image and of the pictures used to make it.

Elvis's head has been shopped onto another man's body. The original picture is by Brazilian photographer Milton Montenegro:

And the worst thing about it is that Pinterest is FULL of images such as these!!! And you can't stop people from posting them, either.

The guy that runs the EP Express is constantly posting fakes. Loses the plot when called out on it. Plus he’s always hyping his pics as RARE or EXTREMELY RARE
