Rolling Stone Magazine - Elvis 80th Birthday Special

'This is a forum for those interested in the vast amount of worldwide publications that Elvis has featured on through the years right up to the present day. Avoiding specialist publications such as "Elvis Monthly", "Strictly Elvis" etc, we will enable to share a gallery of global magazine covers featuring the King. Country, year or subject matter of the publication does not matter, even if Elvis was featured on the cover of "Russian farming today", let's see it! You may also wish to discuss how you located this publication and the contents within.'

Rolling Stone Magazine - Elvis 80th Birthday Special

#1347846

Post by G.I. Blues »

I haven't seen any topic yet covering this special birthday edition of the Rolling Stone Magazine (#243 - January 2015) which was recently issued in Germany, so I thought you might want to see some pictures of it.

I'm not sure if Rolling Stone issued this special edition only in Germany or in other countries, too. Maybe someone can shed some light and answer this question.

The mag features an elaborately positive recount of Elvis' early days, focusing on SUN and the creation of That's All Right and comes with free bonus vinyl re-release of That's All Right / Blue Moon Of Kentucky and a CD called The Road To Elvis (10 classics that made the King a Legend). It's a beautiful hommage and a nice read bestow some minor (sarcasm mode on!) failings and flaws like e.g. refering to It's All Right instead of That's All Right a couple of times (what the hell were they thinking?) or having Tryin' To Get To You twice (track 7 and repeatedly track 9) on the CD but Hank Snow's A Fool Such As I (track 7) missing. Mah boy, mah boy! Well, the casual reader won't notice most flaws anyhow. Enjoy the pics and get it while you can. Nevertheless it's a bargain at 7,90 Euro (approx. US$9,64) not only considering all the goodies included.

Thank you for this. Would you be interested in trading a copy of this for a UK copy of "Vintage rock" magazine Elvis 80th special?

At least it was also available over here in Austria, I received my copies that I ordered today.

[What better date to receive a package containing Elvis items? 8) )
