tyvm The Fool for this piece of history
Elvis was surely back after his '68 comeback special
Vegas was a great venue to bring in the crowds to witness his shows
Many thanks for this.

There's Only 1 King Of Rock and Roll and he's smiling down on us all from heaven.

Thank you for another very interesting share. The article oddly refers to the Elvis TV Special LP as "just released" by RCA, but at least the music there is rightly praised.

The playing is real good rhythm and blues rockabilly stuff, and is, again, very good rock. I mean, real ROCK.

The writer is not as big on Elvis' Las Vegas return, or some of the American Sound singles, but does sum up in grand fashion:

His music ... gives feeling of power. A feeling that Iron Butterfly or Tommy Roe will just never cut.

Thanks again.

P.S. Any chance you can do a full scan of the cover? I want to see all the detail.

BONUS WMCA GO MAGAZINE INFORMATION

WMCA is an AM radio station in New York, this must be some kind of weekly paper they published at the time.

Chris Hodenfield is a long-time critic and author, primarily covering music, and he was at one time a staff member at Rolling Stone.

He contributed this article to the magazine's all-Elvis memorial issue, dated 9-22-1977:

Elvis Presley: Shake, Rattle and Roll 'Em

It's a superb summation of his Hollywood career, one which certain forum members should take the time to read, and gain clarity in the process.

The cover is too big for my scanner. But here is the cover in two parts.
