I'm a little confused about the fact that this is a documentary yet it claims Elvis is Gary's father.

It´s a fictional documentary, although large parts of it are absolutely real. E.g. the places and the interviewed people (mayor...) Of course, Gary is not the son of Elvis
I know, it´s a little confusing sometimes. But maybe that´s even interessting...
