Your chance to be a casting director
I was flipping through channels last night and landed on Lethal Weapon.
And I got to thinking Elvis would have been a hell of a Martin Riggs: angry, surly, fighting depression, black belt, crack-shot, and a cop.
And then I got to thinking, "what other movies would have been in?" John Wick, of course!
So here's you chance to cast Elvis in a movie role you think he would have been great in.
(Don't get hung up on age or whatever year the movie was made; this is just a game.)

Re: Your chance to be a casting director
The role of the Texas Ranger Lebeouf in True Grit. Elvis would've been better than Glen Campbell was. I could've also seen him playing the Sam Elliot role of Gar in the movie Mask. The Tony Curtis role of John ''Joker'' Jackson in the Defiant ones. I could see Elvis playing either a subdued detective solving crimes or as a bad ass detective in a movie. It didn't have to be Elvis in Dirty Harry instead of Clint Eastwood he could've played in his own original cop movie.

Re: Your chance to be a casting director
The David Carradine role in Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2. I wish Elvis had lived and gotten that role. I would've also liked to have seen Elvis play in movies that were directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, John Carpenter, Steven Spielberg, and David Lynch. I'm not sure which movies or which roles but It would've been cool to have seen Elvis work with them.

Re: Your chance to be a casting director
This topic would've gotten more replies if it were in the All Elvis section. I'm sure other posters would've came up with several interesting roles. Thank you, for posting that.

That's an interesting choice. Elvis playing the lead in the Fall Guy instead of Lee Majors. I never watched that show I've seen the Big Valley. I watched the Big Valley sometimes.

Elvis would have made a great Jethro on the The Beverly Hillbillies. PJ Proby said he tried out for the part.

Even Presley management would not have aimed so low in 1962, when CBS-TV green-lit the production.
Had Elvis desired to play an idiot hick, he would have been smart to pursue the lead role of Little Abner Yokum in the Broadway musical production of "Li'l Abner." It was a little bit more advanced than what television churned out six years later.

Also, there's no evidence singer P.J. Proby tried out for the TV role of "Jethro Bodine." He may not have even been in the U.S. at the time.

Re: Your chance to be a casting director
It's our chance to be a casting director! We don't have to worry what Colonel Parker would have done. You've sucked the fun right out of this fun topic. Well done.drjohncarpenter wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 2:10 amEven Presley management would not have aimed so low in 1962, when CBS-TV green-lit the production.mike edwards66 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:14 pmElvis would have made a great Jethro on the The Beverly Hillbillies. Well, I didn't say there was any evidence, I said that PJ Proby said he did, which he did.drjohncarpenter wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 2:10 amAlso, there's no evidence singer P.J. Proby tried out for the TV role of "Jethro Bodine."

Re: Your chance to be a casting director
if we could cast him in a t v role.
he would have been perfect for the twilight zone episode...come wander with me.
gary crosby played the role of the popular singer who wanders into the backwoods in search of a song.
i wont spoil the episode...from season 5.
Elvis would've been great in that role.
and who knows...maybe scored a hit in real life with the song that gives the episode its name "come wander with me".
