Some of us have been puzzled by John's occupation: beat farmer. I remember John mentioning it was a tribute. I put my mind to work, which succeeds every now and then, and my guess is that John's occupation is a tribute to The Beat Farmers, an American cowpunk band, formed in California in the early eighties by lead singer Country Dick Montana. Mystery solved?
