"Elvis On Tour" (MGM, 1972) --> Attributed!

Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:42 am

Below is the original soundtrack to 1972's "Elvis On Tour" -- attributed!

There's just one spot I'm unsure of -- does the rest seem right, EOT experts?

I believe the first "Suspicious Minds" came from San Antonio.

Looks good, Doc!

Perhaps a little correction?:
Carry Me Back to Old Virginny
- April 11 (Roanoke, aboard airplane)

After the snippet of "I Need Your Lovin" there is no "For The Good Times" from Buffalo. It goes directly to Bridge from Greensboro.

Actually, there's a one-liner. After saluting the departing musicians, Elvis turns around, raises his glass, and sings 'Lay your head....'

It's been a long time since I watched it. Thanks!

The U.S. Air Force (AKA Wild Blue Yonder)
Rainy Night In Georgia
For The Good Times

English not being my native language, I never would have guessed which oneliner he was singing there.
Thanks.

Thanks, updated.

Anyone else? Where are the "EOT" experts?

Hi Doc, somebody wrote me that "Love Me Tender" consists of excerpts from probably three or more shows (can't remember which ones right now).
Don't know if it's true though. I think the video and the audio also doesn't fit quite together.
Can't check it right now.
But great list, Doc! Thanks for your efforts!

C. C. Rider
Polk Salad Annie
- April 9 ES (Hampton Roads)

There is footage of the April 18 (San Antonio)
PSA bass solo, seen in the Hampton solo.

Thankyou to Jim Dandy for pointing this out to me
in the late 90's!

There's also footage from Greensboro while the Sweets do their 'chick-a-booms' (you can briefly see the dark blue suit on the right of the screen. However, this is not exactly what Doc had in mind for this thread)

Anybody see the Ten o'clock news on ITV (UK) they did a pretty long report on the fact MGM is just weeks away from bankruptcy, which is very sad.

Elvis On Tour (MGM, 1972)

...

C. C. Rider
Polk Salad Annie
- April 9 ES (Hampton Roads)

...

If you watch "Polk Salas Annie" very closely there seems to be a very short clip of him wearing the White Matador Suit (I believe), which I think would be from San Antonio. It lasts for around a second and the camera moves to the left so that Elvis's face can be seen. It's at 10:17 on my DVD. You'll blink and you'll miss it.

Oh, and he's got a different hairstyle (to Hampton Roads), too.

My focus is primarily the audio performances, what was done and where.

OK Doc, I gave it a listen and this what I come up with:

Love Me Tender
- April 9 ES (Hampton Roads) + April 10 (Richmond)

Suspicious Minds
- April 14 (Greensboro) (Sneakin' up on me, man!)

Until It's Time For You To Go
- April 10 (Richmond)

Suspicious Minds
- April 18 (San Antonio) (Elvis chuckles. We see old lady on left split screen)

Suspicious Minds
- April 9 ES (Hampton Roads) (Are these yours, honey?)

I'm no On Tour expert but this is what I see. Hope it answers your query.

Suspicious Minds

Thanks Robert! That segment came back to mind when I woke up this morning. I was to start the research on that one but you already did all the work. ::rocks

My pleasure, too bad the movie didn't contain the full version
