Re: Clyde McPhatter Says Hello -> August 1970
Not only was Clyde great, he was VERY much an influential figure in the development of rock 'n' roll. This fact may provide insight into the joy I felt at noticing someone meeting Elvis, a McPhatter devotee as early as 1953, who appeared to be Clyde. Your posts have certainly helped to restore some of the excitement a few members here seemed determined to stomp out. Thank you, Kevin.kevinstevenage wrote:I hope no-one minds but I am using this as an excuse to post some photos of Clyde, a great singer.

Re: Clyde McPhatter Says Hello -> August 1970
Just mentioning this
Over at Elvis world Japan in the celeb section of the pics section they have Clyde Mcphatter logged as this same man seen in the TTWII party that the good Doctor's great topic is about
And i noticed on closer inspection the audio seems to be a patch up job,noy knocking it ,i am just mentioning it
Anyone got the original untouched audio i think it was found on a recent TTWII release
Surely if this is Clyde Mcphatter then surely his name would be heard being mentioned somewhere in some audio,Elvis would also know Clyde from the Drifters etc so it's 100% obvious Clyde Mcphatter name would be mentioned somewhere
Peace

Maybe some here can post derogatory comments about Elvis World Japan's knowledge, too.

Re: Clyde McPhatter Says Hello -> August 1970
Transcript of the original audio would be very nice
IF it is a patch up job
IF Clyde Mcphatter name is mentioned
Elvis would surely have acted differently if it was Clyde Mcphatter?
but then surely Rick Schmidlin would have used audio that matched perfectly 100% all the way through instead of this (Brilliantly done) patch up that seems correct at times - maybe it just isnt complete
Where does this audio originate from?
oh yes i have emailed Rick Schmidlin but as yet getting no reply
Again can someone please post original complete as it is audio
This after show party is a complete gem of footage
---------------------------------------------
WHY would someone say to Elvis--you did all my moves???????????
What if Elvis addresses the man as Elvis then the person replies--you did all my moves--as a joke
Because it sure is making them both laugh
just putting some idea out there that someone else said to me
This is sure fun like some puzzle
Jimmy Velvet recorded the private party?

Re: Clyde McPhatter Says Hello -> August 1970
Hello Elvis fans,
I discovered this thread last night and wanted to comment on this very interesting topic. I am an Elvis fan, but I have never described myself as a die-hard Elvis fan. If this topic were about Elvis, I would not feel I had a place to add my “two cents.” However, this thread is not about Elvis Presley; it’s about the man in the picture/video with Elvis. I am proud to say that I am a die-hard Clyde McPhatter fan. And I am absolutely positive that that is NOT Clyde McPhatter in the pictures/video with Elvis. The look is totally not Clyde and the voice doesn’t sound like his either. If I am wrong about that, then I think that would be one of the greatest shocks of my life.
I didn’t post JUST to say “that’s not Clyde McPhatter in the picture.” I also need to comment on Chris Black speaking with someone named “Lee Rackley.” Well, Clyde’s widow Lena Rackley McPhatter-Gore passed away in 1998. I’m not accusing Chris of being misleading or anything like that. I’m all about the facts and the truth, but obviously, whoever Chris spoke with was not Clyde's widow.
I have no idea who that is in the picture, though I am just as curious as anyone at this point. I did not post here to cause an argument, and I hope I didn’t offend anyone.

Looks like "someone" is pointing to the chap in question and saying "hey you look like Clyde McPhatter" and Elvis is simply sharing the moment.

About Elvis, probably. About modesty, discretion or the price of a "1-20v Slim Bench Power Supply with LCD Screen" in the new Maplins catalogue, probably not.

Or perhaps we have Clyde McPhatter asking Elvis: 'Do I have time to come up here and have one in the right place?'stupot wrote:Looks like "someone" is pointing to the chap in question and saying "hey you look like Clyde McPhatter" and Elvis is simply sharing the moment.

Review the previous three pages where viable evidence was presented for discussion -- unlike your usual contribution.

Re: Clyde McPhatter Says Hello -> August 1970
That's an awesome work, PEP...PEP wrote:Regarding the picture Doc originally posted, I don't know if any of you were aware including the Doc, that was a screen shot taken from the TTWII clips of the party Elvis had after his Opening Show in Vegas on August 10th 1970.
Anyway, since I now know that, which I didn't at first, I have now looked at the footage again, where I took a few more screen shots from different angles.
The thing's I've noticed, for example, when One look's at the side profile, One can see the nose is very close, the eye brow on his right hand side is simular, it appears to have the same angle and length over the eye. The cheek area looks similar too, the way it takes shape around the smile, the over all smile including teeth and chin do look very close. Still, just the same, One can't be positive going by all these pictures that is in fact Clyde McPatter as there are differences too, where it does not look like Clyde McPatter either.
Take note this person does mention to Elvis in the clip in a joking way "You did all my moves" so, obviously he is a entertainer. If Chris Black is able to get in touch with the daughter and she get's to see these pictures it may help.
PEP
It does have similar features but... just look at the eyes and compare them; the eyes of the guy with Elvis are closer and Clyde's eyes are farther apart. That's a good clue right there.
IMHO, it's not Clyde McPhatter.
