Thanks for the updated list, DJC.
It's always very nice and informational for someone to take the time and post such lists.
My hat's off to you.

Doc, an updated list ? what's been updated ? why no Dragonheart ?

Mon Jul 21, 2003 7:37 am

It's there, Ray.

Mon Jul 21, 2003 8:28 am

As always a valuable list.

Just as a suggestion now that FTD is releasing soundboards as opposed to multi-track a differential could be made between the two forms?

Great list as usual.

The "stray" section is very useful.
Thanks

I must have been blind (aswell as having a hearing defect  ), I didn't see it in the BMG area....was looking for it in the long list, where the soundboards are.

Mon Jul 21, 2003 9:50 pm

What is remarkable is that, save for the 1977 import LP The Legend Lives On, all the non-RCA in-line recordings have been issued in the past decade. The first came with Fort Baxter's Just Pretend in 1991 and there's been no looking back.

Mon Jul 21, 2003 11:16 pm

Doc,
just a litle help, I didn't see the 2 tracks from January 26th, 1971 that are included on the latest released "Thank you very much - Baxter Greatest Hits", so there are a total of 4 tracks from that opening show.

Bye,
ALFREDO.

Tue Jul 22, 2003 4:14 am

Mostly FULL shows are the focus of both lists

If I ever do pick up that CD, I suppose I'll add the data. I'm hoping we'll get the entire 26 Janaury 1971 tape issued sometime soon.

Tue Jul 22, 2003 6:24 am

nice list, doc. It seems I dont have the stuff on "Greatest Hits Vol 1". Does anyone have a cover scan so I can know what it looks like, since there are about a billion greatest hits comps on LP??

Tue Jul 22, 2003 8:16 am

"In Dreams Of Yesterday" is not the afternoon show in Milwaukee!

Sincerely MB280E

Hi KingOfTheJungle,

I´m not able to put a scan of the Greatest Hits Vol. 1 LP/CD on this board, but have a look at http://www.elvis-theking.com/Seiten/U1-frame.htm
In the discography-section just click on the 1980´s and search for it.
It was released in 1981 on LP and in the early nineties on cd in Australia.
It´s very good and a little hard to get your hands on nowadays.

I have noticed that the "strays list" includes the offical stuff only, but I guess this one is - because of its outstanding performance - an important addition:

08-22-69 d/s or m/s
"I Got A Woman" - this version is expected to be of 08-22-69 - either d/s or m/s - and was released on import lp SUPERSTAR OUTTAKES (EP Records PRP 254, 1978) and the 4-lp box set BEHIND CLOSED DOORS (1979). The same version can be found on the import cd releases GOOD TIMES NEVER SEEMED SO GOOD (Captain Marvel JR. Records 2001-7, released 1998) and A DINNER DATE WITH ELVIS [upgraded version] (Live Archives EPE 1011, released 1997), but in lower quality.

Furthermore:
I would change this line:
08-30-76 Old times They Are Not Forgotten~One Night In Alabama = Tuscaloosa, AL

The reasons:
1. The material on both is NOT the same. On "One Night In Alabama" two songs are missing. 2. At least it seems, that "One Night In Alabama" is NOT an Import CD. This one is (sometimes) still available in german stores.
A while ago I was trying to find out the story behind this pressing. It was a special promotional CD. This CD was designed and produced at B&B Datadesign (http://www.bb-datadesign.de/).I have contacted this company and received the confirmation, that they have produced this cd. Unfortunally there was no chance to receive their customer's name.

Dr. John,

Thanks for your outstanding work!
One question though:
You don´t list Unchained Melody, If You Love Me Let Me Know and Little Sister from the Moody Blue album. Did I miss something?

Edwin

Doc -

Nice list.

Your hard work is appreciated.

Edwin wrote:You don´t list Unchained Melody, If You Love Me Let Me Know and Little Sister from the Moody Blue album. Did I miss something?

"Little Sister" is not on Moody Blue -- you must mean "Little Darlin'". These three live 1977 cuts are available in their <u>original</u> form on FTD's Spring Tours, noted above.

All other comments appreciated and duly noted, although -- beyond waiting for an offical confirmation of that great August 1969 "I Got A Woman" -- this list strives to list full shows.

Wed Jul 23, 2003 2:56 am

What the heck, added Moody Blue anyway.

Wed Jul 23, 2003 3:27 am

This is the Doc at his best.
Doc, your work is appreciated here as well :)

Way to go!

Wed Jul 23, 2003 3:28 am

Dr. Carpenter,

This is a great list. I have one or two questions:

As I don't have the That's the Way It Was CD, can you confirm whether the version of The Wonder of You found on The Live Greatest Hits CD of 2001 is the same as the version on this album, or whether it came from the Midnight Show? The same goes for Suspicious Minds from that very same album (The Live Greatest Hits). Is this covered elsewhere?

Also there is a version of What'd I Say on the UK 1981 album The Sound of Your Cry (the British version of the Greatest Hits Vol 1 LP with extra tracks). Is this covered in your list?

Wed Jul 23, 2003 3:57 am

The version of "The Wonder of You" found on The Live Greatest Hits CD is the same cut on That's the Way It Was CD. The "Suspicious Minds" on LGH is from the 12 August 1970 MS and can better be heard on That's The Way It Is 30th, CD2.

The August 1969 rendition of "What'd I Say" on the UK 1981 album The Sound of Your Cry is an edited take of the performance released in full on 1990's Collector's Gold, CD3.

Remember -- DJC cares!

drjohncarpenter wrote:The version of "The Wonder of You" found on The Live Greatest Hits CD is the same cut on That's the Way It Was CD.

DJC

Given that the same The Wonder Of You as found on The Live Greatest Hits was released in the UK as track 3 on the Suspicious Minds CD single from 2001 (and prior to The Live Greatest Hits CD) this cannot be the version found on TTWII issued a year previously.

The Wonder Of You on the CD single is credited as a previously unreleased version and as being taken from the CD The Live Greatest Hits.

Wed Jul 23, 2003 5:46 pm

Thanks Dr John!

I've been hoping you would do this for ages now - I knew it would come soon!

Gotta print this.

Wed Jul 23, 2003 8:32 pm

Clint Reno -

The Doc didn't say it was on TTWII.

He said it was on 'Thats The Way It Was' [sic].

The actual title is: 'The Way It Was'.
