Devastation has hit...

#1371902

Post by DGRYAN1977 »

Today, I accidentally deleted my whole music library from my Western Digital MyCloud.
In addition to the hundreds of other artist now gone, I lost my whole Elvis collection.
I am beyond upset. I guess I must rebuild.

Any techies out there familiar with this drive and how to recover?

Thank you

Don

I found this, which seems to cover your question.

From what I've read, it would be a hell of a lot easier to just start again from scratch.

Thanks for the reply. I actually found on an external hard drive a back up I did in Jan of last year. So not ALL is lost.

Wow, what a lucky thing to have a back-up. Worth everyone taking note!

Indeed, Doc. It's one reason why I invested in a 1TB external harddrive about 3 months ago. Lifesaver.

I now have THREE copies of all my music. I have a portable external HD, Mycloud and I just hooked up an external HD to the Mycloud that will do automatic back ups once a week.

When I thought all was gone it was like my wife and kids had left me. I couldn't imagine anything worse.

Same here; 1TB plug-in box, £49 at Tesco. PRICELESS... plus a backup on my netbook...

I think I'll get another HD, just in case...

It will be the best ivestment you will ever make. I feel much better knowing that I now have multiple back ups.
A friend who is in IT also suggested another back up to keep in a safe some place (like a bank). Back it up once a month.

In a bank? Overkill, or what? If you really think you need to have a backup drive off the premises, take one to a friend or relative and put it in a locked cash box. A bank will charge you to keep it, and probably charge every time you withdraw it if you're going every month.

I have a 256GB thumb drive. Right now, it backs up everything.

These drives are getting huge now. When I have 1TB of music digitized, I hope to be able to back it up to a thumb drive.

So, I have it all on the PC, the thumb drive, my iPod Classic, and I will put more music on my 128GB thumb drive.

I have had an external hard drive fail on me. But if I needed more storage, I guess I will get one. That will be when I digitize all my vinyl. I have an amazing collection.
