BEST audio-video conversion software?

#1212731

Post by rjm »

I am not interested in freeware. I had planned to get Nero Platinum 12.5, but I read some scary reviews on amazon! And Roxio, too, had some really bad reviews.

I don't want freeware, which plants all kinds of garbage on your hard-drive. A pdf-jpg converter (I just Googled 'em: I should have looked here) recently ripped apart my Chrome, and I had to wipe everything to get rid of that "search engine" that would not go away, no matter what I did.

I just want the best to convert video format to video format (and have it look exactly like it looked originally!), and audio to audio (although I have Gold Wave, already). So, mainly it's the video, which also has audio, of course. The phone/camera videos all have audio, and I like to trim them, etc. Be nice if it included some nice other features, too. But that's really what I need. Seems every product has problems lately!

Thanks in advance.

http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/

Scroll slightly down to FS "download all in one pack"

It is free and it is a very good programm. I use it quite a lot.
When installing do not click on any of the "extra's" or when the box for any of these is marked, take the mark away.
You can convert audio to another format, vidoe to another format, rip, download from YouTube, et cetera.
Anything negative about the programm? Yes, it does not rip protected CD's or DVD's.

Um, that is the one I have. {embarrassed} It does all it says, but it converted .mp4 video to .wmv with a lot of pixelation. Perhaps they have a new version! I like the features. Could have been a fluke, that one piece of film. RealPlayer does a "nice" job, but version 16 is so buggy, it crashes everything on your system!

I was going to get Nero for sure, but the amazon reviews of their customer service, or lack thereof, was alarming. I looked at Roxio. Similar problems!

Gosh, there must be a good solution. I will keep trying. Thanks in any event. The Internet features are terrific!

I will try again with other video I shot.

Try out that one. Meanwhile, I just found out that a program called Adobe Media Encoder comes with Adobe Production Premium CS6, which I've had for a year.

Feel like a total knucklehead! It did a very good job, but I wouldn't say a "perfect" job. Even though I matched up all the settings, the file size of the converted file is about half of the original, and you can sort of see it, a little. Is this a characteristic of .wmv files, to be smaller? A sort of compression? Otherwise, it'll do! I paid a small fortune for that, even with the Student-Teacher discount! (And it doesn't include Dreamweaver or Acrobat! But they put them on your disk, anyway. {grumble})

I would recommend this handy little program, but they aren't selling anything but "The Creative Cloud" anymore. I want NO part of that. NONE! Perhaps you can find a place to buy this small program. It's just a little program; it's not Premiere Pro or anything. Easy-peasy.

Otherwise, good luck on the search!!! DVDsoft caused pixelation on this type of conversion, from .mp4 to .wmv. I need that for Windows Movie Maker 6.2, unfortunately. Can codecs for .mp4 be added to Movie Maker? (The REAL Movie Maker, with the real timeline, not that "LIVE" thing.)

UPDATE: DVDsoft has magnificent customer support. But since they got my original video, they replicated the problem. And they are working on a solution. Perhaps in a future release.

But many of the BIG EXPENSIVE converters have crummy customer support, so this is in their favor!
