WAV (Waveform Audio File) is a lossless format and the same with FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec).
If you shall burn a CD you shall use WAV format and if you shall rip a CD to your computer (your hard disk drive/SSD) you shall store the files in FLAC format instead for WAV because it's easier to tag the files in FLAC format than in the WAV format.
BUT - if you search the internet you will find many many pages from people who says they can hear the difference between a WAV file and a FLAC file. Probably it's because the CPU will work harder to play a "compressed" FLAC file than an uncompressed WAV file.
Anyway, a very good DAC, a high end amp and high end loudspeakers will show you the REAL sound.
