They told me that there was no trace of the parcel, the carriers couldn't find it, so I should wait until the end of the day and then they would re-order it for me. I pointed out that they were no longer stocking the box, it was a limited edition, and indeed they then confirmed that they weren't going to be able to get any more. So I was told that I should buy it somewhere else if I could, and they would refund my money. But not until the end of the day, even though they agreed that it had gone missing.
Everywhere has sold out. None at HMV, and SPIN are only getting USA copies, at a premium price, so in the end I ordered it from Amazon Italy, and that one is coming on Tuesday. OK so far?
On Friday night I got an email saying that my original parcel had been delayed, but it was still coming...
I've had no texts or emails to say that it's arrived in the shop, but this morning the woman who works there rang me to say that it's in. It actually came in yesterday, so I've been to collect it. As far as Amazon are concerned though, it still hasn't arrived. So now, thanks to their incompetence, I'm going to have two copies of the same box set, unless I can send the second one back to Italy, and I have no idea at all whether that's going to be possible without some expense on my part.
Anybody ever sent a parcel back to Amazon Italy, and got a refund?
Amazon faffed me around with the stones mono box, I ended up getting it from HMV; I thought with the availability of this Dylan box being on then off, my chances of receiving said box may be slim but I was pleasantly surprised.
Here's what I would do - if you can't cancel the Italy one and you do end up with two, if they are identical and both okay, just tell Amazon UK it's arrived, get the UK one returned cuz you've changed your mind thanks to their incompetence and keep the Italian one... or at least tell them that and just keep the best looking one of the pair that suits you and send the other back. I returned a CD to Amazon UK (looked like it'd been used for sand paper duties despite being 'new') and they get a courier to collect, worth a morning stuck in if you want proof of return.
Or if you end up with two and get a refund for one, it might do well on eBay...
You would think in this day and age nothing could be easier than pre-ordering something then having it delivered on release day but apparently not. Good Luck with it all...
