Here is Glen's version of "Long black limousine" from 1969. A more 'mournful' sounding arrangement than Elvis'. Is it better? What do YOU think?

I haven't set my speakers up, so can't hear the above link.

The only version I knew of LBL recorded by Glen was cut in 1962 (I think) for the Big Bluegrass Special LP.

Fantastic record, different to his later stuff.

Strictly country; Elvis probably heard it, but it wasn't the performance that inspired his own. (And, pointedly, Chips' arrangement.) O.C. Smith did a fine soul version, but in my view, without a doubt, Elvis cut him.
