For those who think they know it all, I just heard the greatest rock single ever!
Sonny, "Laugh at Me" (Atco 6369, August 7, 1965)
"Sonny" is, of course, the great Sonny Bono.

Thanks, Doc. While it is not the greatest rock single ever 
, it does speak to outsiders, and his kid Chaz, used it as a kind of a theme song for the documentary of his struggle.
It is not insignificant. It's just that Sonny's singing is . . . uh, Sonny's singing.

P.S. -- It would have worked WELL for Elvis in either 1969, or in 1977. Shoot, if by some miracle, he survived the morning of the 16th, he should have mounted the stage in Portland, sang this with everything he had, and walked back off. Swear to God!
