God, this seems so square, doesn't it? Listening to the other versions on youtube, the live version by the Seekers from 1966 sounds closest to Elvis's TUNE, but the arrangment is worlds away

This is completely the opposite of what I have been arguing in a thread about Old MacDonald. Just listening to this and the other ancient versions on youtube shows that Elvis was totally inspired when he took this traditional number and transformed it on that night in June 1970 into the rocking country classic we all know and love.
