I know. Good guitar and piano lick and drum solo near the end followed by Roy's power vocal range at the end. Hard to understand why Roy did not include it on his 1971 LP "Roy Orbison sings". Also check out the Ballad B-side "Close again"

Yes, I love that 1977 "Regeneration" album. The songs was recorded in the Creative workshop Tennessee studio. Same place that Elvis was going to record new songs in Jan/Feb 1977.

Believe it or not, all of his MGM material is in fact available on CD. Most of them are released as 2fers.....but a Bear Family Box on all of his MGM sessions would be most welcome indeed.

I know that in 1991, The TNT Volumes 1 -6 covered his MGM back catalogue (1965-1973). The only one missing was "The Fastest Guitar Alive". Here's what they looked like back then
http://www.zona-musical.com/postt87637.htmlVol 7 was the singles. Unfortunately, TNT was a bootleg and some of these was lifted from vinyls, 45s.

The Fastest Guitar Alive was also reissued on CD.

Yes I have that one. It was not on the TNT Laser series, however.
Also I been trying to find out if it's the Jordanaires singing background on the "Fastest Guitar Alive" songs.

I take it Robt you also have these 3 2fer's from the Edsel label .....
These are official releases....from the original MGM studio master tapes.

Thanks, No I did not know about the EDSEL releases. How long ago did they come out? I am anticipating that Bear Family will eventually do a definitive Boxed set on Roy's MGM era as a follow up to the Sun/RCA/ Monument they produced a few years ago.

I would'nt wait for Bear Family to do that....trust me..I've asked for YEARS for them to come up with an MGM box....as well as several other country artists....no dice. Your best bet is to get these Edsel 2fers for now....the sound quality is outstanding...way better than the TNT issues from 1991.

I take it then you talked to Richard who owns the label ?
Gee that's hard to comprehend as the very last track on CD 6 on the BF Monument box, is "Ride Away" which as you know was an MGM single. One would've thought that was an indication that BF would follow up with a MGM Years definitive collection at some stage.
Does the Edsel releases you talked about also include the B-side singles (TNT Laser had them separate as Vol 7 in 1991) ?
