I'm absolutely deeply moved.

The AI has certainly improved John Lennon's 1977 hometape and 1995 anthology production so now the vocals
while not perfect, it sounds more like a studio master.

Just get out ur headphones and have a listen carefully, have a few listens because it will probably get deleted.

But... mark my words, it's a matter of time that these tracks will get an official production and a re release, both Free As A Bird and Real Love - using AI technology.

Bring it ON !!!

The Beatles at St Pancras (1968)

During their "Mad Day Out" photo session at various London locations (28 July 1968), the Beatles stopped at St Pancras Old Church and Gardens. This secluded park yielded no less than nine photo opportunities. These are linked here by video of the present day, as if walking from site to site.

The last new Beatles song, ‘Now And Then,’ will be released next week

Sixty years after the onset of Beatlemania and with two of the quartet now dead, artificial intelligence has enabled the release next week of what is promised to be the last “new” Beatles song, “Now and Then.” (Oct. 26)

BY DAVID BAUDER
Updated 9:09 PM EDT, October 26, 2023

NEW YORK (AP) — Sixty years after the onset of Beatlemania and with two of the quartet now dead, artificial intelligence has enabled the release next week of what is promised to be the last “new” Beatles song.

The track, called “Now And Then,” will be available Thursday, Nov. 2, as part of a single paired with “Love Me Do,” the very first Beatles single that came out in 1962 in England, it was announced Thursday.

“Now And Then” comes from the same batch of unreleased demos written by the late John Lennon, which were taken by his former bandmates to construct the songs “Free As a Bird” and “Real Love,” released in the mid-1990s.

Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison worked on “Now And Then” in the same sessions, but technological limitations stood in the way.

With the help of artificial intelligence, director Peter Jackson cleared those problems up by “separating” Lennon’s original vocals from a piano used in the late 1970s. The much clearer vocals allowed McCartney and Starr to complete the track last year.

The survivors packed plenty into it. The new single contains guitar that Harrison had recorded nearly three decades ago, a new drum part by Starr, with McCartney’s bass, piano and a slide guitar solo he added as a tribute to Harrison, who died in 2001. McCartney and Starr sang backup.

McCartney also added a string arrangement written with the help of Giles Martin, son of the late Beatles producer George Martin.

As if that wasn’t enough, they weaved in backing vocals from the original Beatles recordings of “Here, There and Everywhere,” “Eleanor Rigby” and “Because.”

“There it was, John’s voice, crystal clear,” McCartney said in the announcement. “It’s quite emotional. And we all play on it, it’s a genuine Beatles recording. In 2023 to still be working on Beatles music, and about to release a new song the public haven’t heard, I think it’s quite an exciting thing.”

Harrison’s widow, Olivia, said he felt in the 1990s that the technical problems made it impossible to release a song that met the band’s standards. With the improvements, “he would have wholeheartedly” joined Paul and Ringo in completing the song now if he were still alive, she said.

Next Wednesday, the day before the song’s release, a 12-minute film that tells the story of the new recording will be made public.

Later in the month, expanded versions of the Beatles’ compilations “1962-1966” and “1967-1970” will be released. “Now And Then,” despite coming much later than 1970, will be added to the latter collection.

The surviving Beatles have skillfully released new projects, like remixes of their old albums that include studio outtakes and Jackson’s “Get Back” film, usually timed to appeal to nostalgic fans around the holiday season.

This year, it’s the grand finale of new music.

“This is the last track, ever, that you’ll get the four Beatles on the track. John, Paul, George, and Ringo,” Starr said in a recent interview with The Associated Press.

Paul McCartney - 'GOT BACK' Tour Mural in Newcastle, NSW

Paul made a spontaneous stop on the streets of Newcastle, Australia, leaving fans in awe. En route to his concert at the McDonald Jones Stadium, he paused to admire a 160sq m mural created by local artist Mitch Revs to commemorate Paul's first Newcastle show.

The mural, a hot topic in the city, drew in visitors, and they weren't disappointed when the Paul himself decided to make an appearance. Joining in the artistic fun, Paul added a personal touch with a smiley face and his initials.

Rain - Isolated Drums + Tambourine (Actual Speed)

Made with MDX23.
Mix used : Take 2 (Backing Track)

This is Rock Band Stem's conclusion on what speed they actually recorded, as many pointed out Giles Martin's version that was put out on the Revolver box set is way too fast.

Many think that they recorded the song in A originally, so Rock Band Stem has sped up the slowed-down Take 2 from the boxset to get this.
Bb seems way too odd of a key to do too.

Here’s the information regarding the revamped expanded Red and Blue albums. Interesting that for the vinyl releases, they have decided to follow the original versions whilst adding a third LP on each release with the extra tracks. This decision was made to keep the vinyl purists happy that LPs 1 and 2 from each set were the same as the original 1973 releases, although others feel they should have followed the CD releases and made the vinyls the same as the CDs that follow a chronological order.

With many tracks from the Rubber Soul album now appearing with a brand new 2023 mix, and following what they did with the Revolver album last year, it now seems certain that Rubber Soul will be the next album to receive the deluxe treatment for a 2024 release as long as they can find enough outtakes to support it.

“NOW AND THEN” TO BE RELEASED WORLDWIDE
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2 AT 2PM GMT / 10AM EDT / 7AM PDT

THE BEATLES’ 1962-1966 (‘THE RED ALBUM’) AND 1967-1970 (‘THE BLUE ALBUM’) COLLECTIONS EXPANDED, MIXED IN STEREO & DOLBY ATMOS FOR 2023 EDITION RELEASES OUT NOVEMBER 10

London – October 26, 2023 – Together and apart, The Beatles have always had a talent for the unexpected. And now, 2023 brings one of the most anticipated releases of their long and endlessly eventful history. “Now And Then” is the last Beatles song – written and sung by John Lennon, developed and worked on by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, and now finally finished by Paul and Ringo over four decades later.

“Now And Then” will be released worldwide at 2pm GMT / 10am EDT / 7am PDT on Thursday, November 2 by Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe. The double A-side single pairs the last Beatles song with the first: the band’s 1962 debut UK single, “Love Me Do,” a truly fitting full-circle counterpart to “Now And Then.” Both songs are mixed in stereo and Dolby Atmos, and the release features original cover art by renowned artist Ed Ruscha. The new music video for “Now And Then” will debut on Friday, November 3. More details including global premiere plans will be announced.

THE BEATLES’ 1962-1966 (‘THE RED ALBUM’) AND 1967-1970 (‘THE BLUE ALBUM’) COLLECTIONS EXPANDED, MIXED IN STEREO & DOLBY ATMOS FOR 2023 EDITION RELEASES OUT NOVEMBER 10

On November 10, The Beatles’ 1962-1966 (‘The Red Album’) and 1967-1970 (‘The Blue Album’) collections will be released in 2023 Edition packages by Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe.

Since their first incarnations appeared 50 years ago, these albums have introduced successive generations to The Beatles’ music with massive worldwide sales of around 14 million copies for each one.

Now, both collections’ tracklists have been expanded, with all the songs mixed in stereo and Dolby Atmos. New 4CD and 180-gram 6LP vinyl collections pair ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ in slipcased sets. The UK single version of “Love Me Do” now kicks off 1962-1966 (2023 Edition) and “Now And Then” is featured on 1967-1970 (2023 Edition) to complete the career-spanning collections.

All tracks on CD1 of the Red Album have brand new mixes from this year whilst CD2 has brand new mixes up to and including Track 11. After that, we get the 2022 mixes that were done for the Revolver album from last year. For the Blue album, there are a lot less new mixes as the majority have been covered by the re-released deluxe sets that commenced with Sgt Pepper back in 2017 although we do get four track from Magical Mystery Tour which so far has not been re-issued and the fact it was never an album in the U.K. May have something g to do with that.

I'm not keen on what they've done with the Red and Blue albums. They were beautifully sequenced, and the extra tracks have spoiled the flow somewhat.

There are some questionable choices too, with Rain being a glaring omission from the Red album.

I realise George was under represented on these sets, but if they wanted to address this, it would have made more sense to release a new compilation rather than making changes to these two iconic titles.

That said, I'm very much looking forwards to the new track...

It was seen as an opportunity to bring the sound of many songs that have so far not been remixed and provide more value for money by way of adding more tracks, because the original releases were always regarded as a bit short on playing time especially when they went over to double CD’s although price wise, I’m not sure they have achieved that goal as the price has increased but still a double CD.

But to get all of those mono tracks on CD1 reworked into stereo and the remainder remixed/rebalanced will be a big selling point. I don’t think a brand new compilation will have worked as it would be seen to cut across the original albums which would presumably still be on catalogue - you would either end up with some duplicated tracks although remixed or a compilation that does not include any of the tracks from the original two albums and thus losing any real impact with the major songs missing.

What is interesting though is the lack of songs from the earlier albums like A hard Day’s Night, Beatles for Sale and Help although I suspect that they simply have not had enough time to remix all of those albums, just concentrating on one or two tracks. The inclusion of so many tracks from Rubber Soul suggests that they have been doing a lot of work on that album already which I believe was scheduled for release around this time anyhow, but now put back, with these new releases of those original iconic albums being used to raise awareness of the catalogue.

Regarding the omission of Rain, that does seem strange and could have been included to bring CD2 up to 20 tracks. And I think I would have included Free As A Bird and Real Love which have kind of got lost on the Anthology sets. And going on from the song contents, I would have liked to have seen these releases in either 7’ or 8" deluxe sets and booklet like Sony have done with recent Elvis releases, instead of bog standard 5’ digipaks.

But we will always have our subjective opinions of what they should have done etc etc, but these things will still sell in pretty big numbers as the media reports start ramping up over the next week or so, with some online exclusive components already selling out here and in the USA.

Agreed. But only if they was able to achieve a significant AI improvement on Lennon's vocal from the 1995 Anthology. Can we presume that they must've looked at it and tried to do but was not satisfied with the results?

I don't doubt they will sell, and whilst the stereo tracks and new mixes are certainly a selling point, and I will certainly listen to them via streaming, I'm happy to wait for the respective re-issues of the original albums before I go out and buy them.

I agree that it's all subjective, and I would have also included Real Love and Free As A Bird. I'm not saying that there should have been a new compilation, just giving an alternative scenario. But then I don't really see why Now And Then has to be linked to revamped versions of the Red and Blue albums either, but I do accept that the sales / marketing opportunity is too big to pass up.

Hopefully they have worked on Real Love and Free As A Bird for future projects, and I would like to see them do more with John's home recordings too. Grow Old With Me could certainly be enhanced by the new technology for example...

Real Love.
Free As A Bird.
Grow Old With Me.
I have never cared for The Beatles but the two songs mentioned here I really like.
I should mention that im a big fan of many of the ELO tracks and the Jeff Lynne mix/sound.
Would be cool if Grow Old With Me could be improved in any way.
