What’s really awesome is that this release has been in the chart for every week since it’s release back in November 2016 apart from 11 of them. That’s pretty good going for a group that split up 51 years ago.

And still these two albums are in the Billboard charts.

Equivalent album sales for Abbey Road from Jan 2020 = 781k copies. From the Sept 2019 re-issue, it is 953k

The "1" album from Jan 2020 = 828k.

Impressive stats emjel, particularly when you take into consideration, "Let it Be" was one of their weaker hodgepodge albums.

Which next Beatles album you want to see get the SUPER DELUXE and Book treatment in 2022/23 ?

For me i am hoping the "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver" both get the SUPER DELUXE / BOOK treatment in 2022.

Yes for me, it was defintely their weakest album. and I would have included The Ballad of John & Yoko in favour of Dig It. Yet in the US, Let It Be had more than 3,000,000 advance orders, which at the time was the highest for any album in the history of the US recording industry. Their very last single in the US, The Long and Winding Road issued a week before the album sold one million in three days and the album went on to sell more than 4 million copies. I'm sure this latest release will generate another half million sales especially off the back of the forthcoming documentary, but I would have liked to have seen less of a gap between the delxue re-issue and the documentary for a combined impact. I read somehere in the book that back in 1970, they were concerned that there might be a gap between the origkinal film coming out and the album being released and they wanted alignment. But this latest release will not hang around in the charts like Abbey Road has done....two continuous years in the chart is a long time for a current album let alone one that is 52 years old.

So what would I like to see next.....Definitely "Revolver" but I would not be adverse to getting "Magical Mystery Tour" either. They could also add the mono mixes which for a couple of the songs were different to the stereo ones and a 5.1 disc would be interesting for both. I also feel they now need to up the schedule because we fans alomg with the remaining members are not getting any younger. The other questions is "Will they revisit the early albums?". 2023 will be 60 years for Please Please Me and With The Beatles so they may do both in that year, but any remixing may be a problem with just two track recording machines being used, so may just be outtakes. As they say, time will tell.

Are some of those stats from UKmixit.com ???

I love that site, but I haven't had much luck in navigating and finding stats regarding some of my other fav bands.

Imho, I certainly don't consider, "Let It Be" one of those weaker albums from The Beatles, but that's me.

Good stuff.

The Beatles Back On Top Of The Billboard Charts
Fort Atkinson, WI, USA / Oldies & Info 940 WFAW
Music News
Dec 12, 2021 | 6:00 PM

The success of the Peter Jackson's nearly eight-hour The Beatles: Get Back documentary on Disney+ still lingers with the band's 1970 Let It Be album sitting on top of the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart for the first time.

Upon its original release, Let It Be hit Number One on the Billboard 200, topping the chart on June 13th, 1970 and ending Paul McCartney's three-week run on top of the charts with his solo debut, McCartney. Let It Be went on to hold the top spot for a solid month until the soundtrack to Woodstock displaced it.

The Rock Albums & Top Tracks chart was introduced in the March 21st, 1981 issue of Billboard — well over a decade after the Beatles split.

Yahoo! Entertainment reported the new chart entry marks the fifth time the “Fab Four” have topped the Rock Albums Chart — following The Beatles LOVE (2007), On Air: Live At The BBC Volume 2 (2009), and the expanded box set editions of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017) and Abbey Road in 2019.

The late, great George Harrison recalled the Beatles' initial plan upon starting the January 1969 film and recording sessions for what became Let It Be: “I think the original idea was to rehearse some new songs, and then we were going to pick a location and record the album of the songs in a concert. I suppose kinda like they do these days on Unplugged, except, y'know, it wasn't to be unplugged. It was to do a live album.”

They also have three albums on the Billboard Catalog Album Sales Chart U.S. 18/12/2021 off the back of the documentary.

#1 Let It Be
#5 The Beatles - Abbey Road
#53 The Beatles - Revolver

The "1" album which is currently still in the main Billboard 200 chart is not classed as a Catalogue Album being released in 2000.

Good one emjel.

On the flip side, i wonder if Nielsen will release the stats in January showing the mass cancellations of subscriptions after the Get Back film has had a good run on Disney.

Doubt it, but it is not really relevant regarding the popularity of the program is it.....if it had been broadcast free to air, it might have got even more viewings.

BPI Certifications Update U.K.

Here Comes The Sun is the latest BPI award with double platinum certification for sales of 1.2 million for the period 2010-2021.

So far this year, the BPI have made 8 awards to the group.

Here Comes the Sun is a single? I thought Something/Come Together was the only single from Abbey Road.
I think it was a download single but I’ll check it out and get back to you when I have an answer.
Yes it was for the download era.

Fourteen BPI Awards in U.K. for 2021

In the U.K., the BPI have made 14 awards to The Beatles in 2021. The latest award for the single "Help" means total sales of over 1.3 million for the single - over 900k physical and now 400k downloads/streams. Here is the complete list of the others.

Elsewhere, in the USA, sales for the latest Let It Be re-issued album have reached 160k. This means that by the end of the year, total world sales are expected to be around 300k.
