Re: The Beatles - Chart Data- Sales Stats & Other Info
The Beatles are back with their first new single in decades, and their fans are showing up to support the just-released tune. The legendary rock band is proving their power as "Now and Then" arrives on Spotify's rankings of the most-streamed songs all around the planet, and the group has even managed to best the biggest star in the world... at least in one place.
"Now and Then" was the No. 1 most-streamed song in the U.K. on Spotify on Thursday, November 2. The track racked up just under 387,000 streams in less than a full day. It pushes Taylor Swift's new track "Is It Over Now?" down from the top spot. On the same day, that track earned another 383,000 streams.

Re: The Beatles - Chart Data- Sales Stats & Other Info
Not that many as the physical variants were only released on Friday and many dealers did not receive their stocks until mid-day. I’m still waiting for the 7" vinyl and CD single from Amazon which were due last Friday but got changed to Monday so would have missed last Fridays chart. I understand it was around a couple of hundred physical that got recorded but the download number was around 7k. Streaming was around 1k so total sales was just over 8k which got it to #42.rockinrebel wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 3:02 amAny idea of what the physical sales are?

It is still currently #1 on iTunes and now on Spotify both for streaming which has obviously pushed the numbers up over the weekend.

Re: The Beatles - Chart Data- Sales Stats & Other Info
The Beatles officially stopped making music together back in the ‘70s, but they are still immensely popular to this day. So popular, in fact, that their “last” single, which was released only a few days ago, has rocketed to No. 1 on a Billboard chart the band has never ruled before.
“Now and Then” opens at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, the weekly ranking of the bestselling tracks in America. The tally is different from the more closely-watched Hot 100, which incorporates other forms of consumption, such as streams and radio airplay.
The track opens atop the Digital Song Sales chart with 16,000 copies sold. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to get into the main Billboard Hot 100. And it seems that demand has outstripped supply so people who were not in the queue to get the record when it hit the stores on Friday 3rd November or did not order quickly enough on line will have to wait for the single to get repressed on CD.
But what is most impressive about the immediate success of “Now and Then” is how quickly it racked up enough purchases to rank as the No. 1 seller in America. The Beatles dropped the tune on Thursday, November 2–the last day of the tracking frame. It sold well enough in less than one full day to hit No. 1, while most songs require an entire week to collect enough purchases to have a shot at the highest reaches of the list.

Hey, that means it would better Free as a Bird which,
back in 1995, did not quite get to number one on your UK chart.
It also means that we're assured of more Beatles goodies like an upgrade to the Anthology 1995 series, Aye

hey emjel !
Mate do you recall in 1973 how much those 2 LP Red and Blue legendary compilations set you back ?
Im assuming that you wasted no time in purchasing your copies when they first was released.

Re: The Beatles - Chart Data- Sales Stats & Other Info
It was either £4.49 or £4.99 which was quite a lot in one go and as I was saving to get married, they were not an immediate purchase when released but the Red was a Christmas present from my fiancé in 1973. The Blue one came a year or so later.Walter Hale 4 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 4:33 amhey emjel !

The White album had an even lower priority when it was released back in 1968 as I simply could not get into much of the music that was on it, in fact, Beatles albums after Pepper never made it into the collection for a couple of years as having just started work the previous year, my priorities were buying lots of early Elvis albums that I hadn’t been able to afford as a teenager and I was slowly building up my Elvis US imports too. But by 1972, I had them all apart from The White album even including an import of the Magical Mystery Tour LP was in the collection, but my wife who was my girlfriend back in ‘72 really surprised me and bought it for me that Christmas, so filled the gap.
But no delay in getting these new re-issues. I got them yesterday and the Red one with all the remixed tracks is really superb. A couple of slight disappointments with She Loves You being the most disappointing, but then they only had the mono tape to work with. I think my biggest disappointment is more the packaging as for 50th anniversary releases, I think they should have done better - the CDs should have been presented in 7" or 8" packaging with a decent booklet, probably like FTDs 7" Classic album series, whilst the vinyl was disappointing keeping the original format but with one album in the left part of the sleeve and the two albums in the right part. For me, it came across as some kind of budget release done that way.
But both are going to get a lot of plays over the coming weeks and I’m really hoping Apple get the two early albums out as deluxe re-issues very soon as what they have done with some of the material is amazing getting the vocals centred up and the overall sound especially the drums vastly improved. Some sound like they have just been recorded.
And I wouldn’t be surprised to see both albums in the Top 10 of the U.K. album chart next week.

The 1967-1970 (Expanded 2023 Edition) reached #1 on the Japanese Oricon Daily Albums chart, selling 12,784 copies on the first day. The 1962-1966 (Expanded 2023 Edition) came in at #2, selling 11,710 copies on the first day. Very impressive for first day sales.
Both albums are expected to get into the Top 5 of the midweek U.K. album chart which will be announced later.

The U.K. price is around 48 Australian Dollars. I rarely buy from record shops these days as my nearest is around 27 miles away. So factor in petrol price and parking and it just pushes the price up.Walter Hale 4 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 2:49 amgood on you emjel. Mate have a look at what these things are retailing for in AU?

good one here from MeanMrMayo, he's a character so they're number one in their native UK but number #7 and #6 in the US Billboard and AU Aria national charts respectively
