ABBA - Rare Vocal Mixes

Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:52 pm

The ABBA world has been in a bit of a frenzy of late with some previously unheard mixes doing the rounds.

The conjecture being that they are work in progress reference mixes, created especially during the development of the Mamma Mia! stage production from over a decade ago.

Whatever the truth, they are mightily impressive and moreover very much welcomed; as unlike the plethora of rare audio we see released by Elvis on a regular basis; unreleased and/or alternate ABBA material is very thin on the ground.

Enjoy them. I don't think they'll be on YouTube for long!

Very nice alternates. Not often do we hear alternate mixes/takes of their hit songs. Well done.

Some interesting "out of phase" [filtered centres] that strip the songs down even further.

I'm guessing TCB-FAN will love Under Attack as Frida is the dominant vocalist - unlike on the regular master in which Agnetha takes the lead.

Chiquitita sounds very different too without the heavy reverb [oop mix starts at 4:31].

You're right, I do like...very much. "I Do, I Do , I Do".

Two more fascinating alternate mixes that reveal the intricate layers that made up the unique ABBA sound.

Three more new mixes.

The Winner Takes It All is virtually acapella, and even features Bjorn on the outro, which was obviously later scrapped for the master.
