I am not selling the item listed but I would love to get some insight on the possible value. M
Long story - short: My father was in the US Army and for eight years from the lat 1960's to 1976 he was assigned to the National Security Council in Washington DC. His primary office was next door to the White House in the Old Executive Office Building but he also worked in the White House a few times a month. One day in December 1970 while in is OEOB office he heard a rumor that Elvis was in the building in connection with a meeting with President Nixon. My father was an Elvis fan and even though the staff routinely ran into heads of state and other celebrities he said that when word got out that Elvis was in the building everyone dropped what they were doing and started looking for him. As luck would have it my father grabbed a pad of paper and a pen from his desk and took the stairs to the ground floor. Just as he was coming off the spiral staircase an elevator in the lobby opened and Elvis, along with his two bodyguards and a few other government escorts stepped out of the elevator. My father was the first person there and walked up to Elvis and said something like 'Elvis I am a big fan. May I have your autograph?'. At that point Elvis smiled at him and said hello and took the pad of paper and pen. Just as he was signing the pad several other people arrived and started shoving paper in from of Elvis to sign. As Elvis was handing the pad back to my father (he kept the pen!) someone grabbed at his hand and he dropped the pad on the floor. He began signing other autographs and as my father bent down and picked the dropped pad up from the floor Elvis took the pad from him and signed his name a second time directly underneath the first signature. At that point my father stood back and watched for few minutes before the security crew moved him through a secured corridor between the OEOB and the White House. My father took the double signed paper and stamped the date and time on it back in his office. My father was assigned to a duty station in Seoul in August 1977 (I know - ironic....he is also still there btw....). I came into possession of the autograph in 1980 after rescuing it from an Uncle who stored it with a stack of papers under his kitchen sink. I had it professionally mounted in an archive/museum quality frame and glass. My question is whether or not anyone has insight into the potential value of this piece. I am not aware of any other double autographs and I have not seen any on the market that were signed during the WH visit. Any info or insight would be appreciated.
