I know this is hard to decide and I wanted to be included it here in the Cisco Corner cause there might even be a cdr audience recording you like best. I think we can exclude 1969 cause they all stand out.
I am a great fan of August 1970 and these 2 definitely belongs to my TOP 3..

Just a very entertaining show with great set list and Elvis having fun on stage.

My top 5 would be

August 14th 1970 m/s ( shame MGM didnt record from the front on this or if they did its not been released)
Sept 3rd 1973 closing show . ( yes evone might think Elvis shouldnt been on stage , he was letting off steam and i enjoy this concert very much.)

i was gonna choose 2nd sept 1974 cl/show because of the way Elvis sings the songs but most ppl just talk about the rants and the way he spoke about cilla, but im gonna go for

19th aug74 opening show.

the change songlist is a big hit for me and to hear Elvis sing good time charlie and a new song for me at the time down in the alley was a nice suprise so its a concert that i enjoy goin back too.

22nd march 75 m/s as i have some footage of this elvis just seem to be on good form for the year.
10th dec 75 10pm. first ever Elvis original cd i got so i enjoy this cd plus Elvis sounding in a funny mood with singing CHFIL 2nd song)

Not really exactly in some cases. Those are more my general impressions. The shows that pop out are, 8-3-69 8-21-69, 1-26-70 2-23-70, 8-12-70, 2-19-71, 1-26-72, 8-19,1974.

I have noticed that the openers and closers are usually among the most interesting on most of his Vegas and Tahoe gigs. At least from what we have they always stick out to me.

August 23, 1969 MS - No need to reconsider about this one! Great, great show!
August 12, 1970 MS - what a song line-up! Terrific show!
September 4, 1972 - CS - What a show!
December 2, 1975 OS - Different line-up and Elvis in superb voice!

If I had to pick Vegas shows, I probably would go for those shows that are a little unusual, like a change in the lineup and such. It's been a long time since I reviewed by audience recoding collection, and over the years I have forgotten some exact dates, but off the top of my head I'd say:

8/18/75 OS - I like this entire abbreviated season, both for the song selection and the effort Elvis puts in. This show has a good song selection and it even has a snippet of "Your Love's Been a Long Time Coming" (piano intro only).

9/1/74 DS and MS - These two shows put the CS of 9/2 in better perspective - Elvis was clearly angry on 9/2, but not only on 9/2 - you can get some context for his remarks from these shows.

12/3/76 - Contains a great version of "What Now My Love" - when I first heard it I didn't know what show it was from, so I was shocked to learn it was 76 - great stuff!

12/15/75 - This entire season is superb in my opinion, but I really enjoy this show - some powerful performances, including It's Now or Never.

8/7/72 MS - the first live performance of Steamroller Blues, and Elvis gives it an unusually funky treatment

8/6/73 OS - an unusual opening - a funky 2001, followed by Trouble and Raised on Rock, plus Memphis Tennesse later in the show - pretty cool. Wish there was a good quality release of this.

12/12/76 - the final Vegas show - historic for obvious reasons, but Elvis is in good form and the show is longer than usual.

12/10/75 - a really unusual show, with Can't Help Falling in Love performed second...a sincere version, followed by When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again and (if I recall correctly) a snippet of You Don't Know me...overall a nice, committed show with Elvis enjoying himself.

Those are ones I can think of off the top of my head...I know there are more, but I'll have to relisten to remember!

Since you are working with FTD now (very happy to hear that - loved Another Saturday Night), do you happen to know if there are any good shows (or any shows) available on SB from the August '73 or December '76 Vegas engagements? I know that we have a mediocre SB in "Run On" from 12/7/76, and there are a number of microphone recordings from August of '73, but I was wondering if there were any actual SBs in FTD's possession.

Also, do you think there there is a possibility that FTD would ever release another audience recorded show for engagements where there are no good SBs? I know Ernst said he was planning on releasing something from every Vegas engagement and tour, but I doubt that is possible unless some ARs are released...what do you think?

The August 26,1969 Midnight Show would have to be my favorite.
This is Elvis in the best spirits, just having a great time, and at the same time, on the top of his game.
He never seemed happier to be on stage in Vegas, than this show.

i love those version from 1974-1975 where elvis pulls the long ''oh my god'' Sadley it seemed like in 1974 and 1975 the band still couldnt follow elvis on that part.

Although I have never heard the show, I understand that February 15, 1973 may have been one of the most courageous performances of Elvis' career. I understand that he was sick with a throat infection of some kind but still tried to perform; left the stange for a bit, returned and closed the show, only to stop the ending to do a few more songs for the audience.

A friend played the opening show from August 1975 for me a while back. It really was an enjoyable show. Perhaps not the best when compared to the shows from 69-71, but still very good.
