Audience recordings running out ?

Postby Ciscoking » Wed Aug 15, 2012 11:13 pm

Having a look at my great table...I am seeing that there is not that much left.
When was the last time we had a tour show..?

i see that we have a few 1976 tour shows that would fit for release..like Pine Bluff
September 8, 1976..and perhaps a little Tahoe 1976..what remains is mainly Las Vegas
1972 and 1973..my best guess..in 5 years the well is dried out. What do you think ?

There aren't possibly that much good sounding tour audience recordings around anymore, but at least Touchdown released some: "Total Commitment", "Stellar In Atlanta" and one of the next two releases offers a more complete and better sounding version of the Nashville concert from July 1, 1973 - "Summertime '73".
I think the main problem with audience recordings from on tour shows is that the recording equipment wasn't able to deal with the recording conditions. The same recording machines that have worked quite well in Vegas and Tahoe were not good enough to record a concert - with more or less satisfying results - in a concert venue with around 10.000 peoples in the audience that were making much more noise than the much more subdued audience in Vegas and Tahoe.

Im hoping it doesnt run out too quickly, but other than releasing new source from the cdrs we have all ready yes i can see it happening which is sad but good things must come to a end. The only thing i can say and i hope this isnt out of order due to the fact Bruce only passed away last year but does he's collection have more gems hiding or does Ernst have more than we think. If bruce's collection ( and thats if he still had them b4 he's passin or had them at all) will they eva see light of day. I would love to have all the concerts Elvis did from 69-77 but i know it wont happen.I enjoy seeing new concerts or concerts that i only have on cdrs being released and the longer it carries on the better.
he maybe gone but never forgotten.

At the moment..we have a bunch of better sounding Vegas shows compared to what is floating around
on cdr in collectors circles for ages....see Straight Arrow..seems like they have access to better sources..
the March 1975 shows are a good example...so the well is not THAT dry.

I think it's amazing we still see new and better sources emerge after all those years.
Mainly through SA.

Fact is the number of "new" SB's & audience recordings will decrease thoug..

I would still like to see a better source of the 30/12 '76 Atlanta show.
Just to name one

it's about the worst audience recording out there and I went to that show.
I see why it's only out on CD-R.

Listen..

On Tour Bloomington

I believe the complete verssion with the end of Hound Dog/Can`t Help Falling In Love/Closing Vamp might just be a fake to make the show complete.

This is one of the CD-Rs I have of the show and It sounds terrible, I believe it is all Bloomington on this disc because I have another source from a different tape recording and they match.

On my version only the tagged end of the other source is really terrible.
Does the sound quality match, too on your complete source with the tagged end...?

One source is complete the other source omits those songs, so you may be right.
